Texan_Til_I_Die
Leasing is the most common way to gain hunting ground in Texas. The rates probably aren't meaningful to your area, but they typically go from around $1000 per year for average hunting land to $5000 + for top of the line ranches. Additionally, some places day lease at $100 - $300 per day. A season (or year round for all legal game) lease is the most typical. Payment is usually made in full before the first season opens. Our hunting licenses run from Sep 1 - Aug 31 each year, and many leases are set up coincide with those dates. A written lease that states exactly what you can and can't do along with the landowner's responsibilities is highly recommended. The best type of lease from a hunter's standpoint is to get a multiple year agreement with each year being an option. That way, if you want to keep the lease you just write a check every year but if you need or want out, you can get out.

wtnhunt
Re: How much does a lease cost Welcome to the forums. Think it would vary greatly depending on where you are looking at. Have heardof some around here going anywhere from $5-15 per acre depending on what all wildlife there is there to hunt.
Tominator
Re: How much does a lease cost The one lease I've been part of cost us $10 an acre for 600 acres.
