BigBuckVideo
I am looking at buying a Lueopold VXIII for my Remington Mountain Rifle. I can't make up my mind between two scopes so I am looking for opinions. 3.5x10x40 or 3.5x10x50 I currently use a 3.5x10x50 on a BAR and I like it alot. I am just not sure if I am getting that much more time from the 50 or if I should go with the 40 to keep scope size to a minimum. All opinions are appreciated. too_pointer
Re: scope choice One thing for me that I don't like using the 50 mm is having to put on higher ring mounts for scope clearence. I guess it would depend on what type of buttstock you have and would it be comfortable to shoot. too_

johnf
Re: scope choice I like to keep my head down a much as possible, so I'd have to say 40mm.
tedicast
Re: scope choice I agree with too_pointer. I had all kinds of trouble mounting a 50 on my Encore. Not worth the hassle. I prefer a 40mm in med rings. I have a Nikon ProStaff 3x9x40 on my .243 Mountain Rifle.
AJ
Re: scope choice I would go with the 40mm objective for the exact reasons too_pointer stated. That guy knows his stuff!
LETMGROW
Re: scope choice Before you mortgage your house again to buy a new scope, take a close look at the Simmons Atecs. I love mine and would put it up against scopes costing hundreds of dollars more. 44 mm. is my choice. Lots of light gathering for my older eyes, still down closer to the barrel for more accuracy. Check 'em out.
