The_Kat
Re: Question From Realtree Video Dept. Only complaint about last years video was the archery tournament. I enjoy watching all those guys, but the video seemed to lose it's personal feel with Bill, David, and Mike when all the others joined in. I know a rain storm caused the indoor shoot too, but I defintely enjoy the outdoor one better. Like others have said, show some tips and how tos. Also another suggestion I have is to have a realtree tv video that is a recap of the season you air on ESPN, and then the MB Videos with different hunts. I don't watch Realtree on television because you've done seen all the hunts when you watch the MB series!
Nut
Re: Question From Realtree Video Dept. My biggest complaint is the music that is added to the video. I like to hear the natural sounds even if it is silence. I enjopy watching Bill,David and Michael doing the hunting. Foxworthy and Travis are good ones also. I also would like to see Scott Hughes doing at least 1 each year. Take a child once in a awhile also. Bowhunting,Gunhunting and Muzzleloaders....get it all in. Info on the screen to where, when and times would be good also. I did not care for the archery tourney. Way too many people . Do something new like show some bloopers in between. etc etc etc
Griz
Re: Question From Realtree Video Dept. Heck I'm not picky.I like them all. Bowhunting, rifle and muzzle loader. I would like to see maybe some pistol hunts and how to's though, I think that would be cool. I sure hope the 3-D shoot stays on. I like that the best... Newarcher
Re: Question From Realtree Video Dept. I like all of the hunts, regardless of weapon. I would like to see more variant hunts....say bobcats or yotes like Roadtrips had on it. I would like to see more celebrities, like Foxworthy or that up and coming star, Newarcher! Never duplicate, it is a real turnoff to someone who pays good money to buy multiple disks. My biggest request would be more of a teaching aspect to the videos. Take some time and when the hunter points to a big blood trail, actually show it. Show how the hunter actually followed the blood. Lastly, bloopers and flubbs are a great addition for bonus footage. RangerClay
Re: Question From Realtree Video Dept. I have every MB video ever made and I love them all!! There are two things I would like to see. First I want more of whats going in camp. I recently saw a story on ESPN about Bill Jordan changing a tree stand at 2:00 in the morning. Why didn't that make the video. The kill is nice but I just about bust a gut when I saw Bill joking about Chocoholics Anonymous. That is the kind of stuff I enjoy the most. Two I want see different kinds of firearms. All I see are Mathews bows and Encore Rifles. How about a shotgun hunt with deer drives. Or even better yet why not hunt with flintlocks. A little challenge wouldn't hurt anyone and would make it more exciting. And yes please keep the archery tournament with the make-up babes!!! Newarcher
Re: Question From Realtree Video Dept. I don't know if Michael's pronghorn hunt will make Roadtrips but I think it would be hilarious to see video of those hunters flying into the field in their truck and blasting away at the pronghorn Michael was hunting. Bownarow
Re: Question From Realtree Video Dept. I could definetly do without the gun hunts. To me watching some person sitting in an apartment on stilts drinking coffee with his slippers and a copy of the Sunday paper, until his camera man tells him to get ready cause a deer just walked out of the woods 3.5 miles down the field, doesn't appeal. I really enjoy the upclose encounters that come with watching a bowhunt. I understand the necessity to include a couple gun hunts here and there, that is a part of out hunting lives. I say more Bow hunts though! I also like to watch the interaction between the different personalities on the show (i.e. the archery competition)
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Question From Realtree Video Dept. I'd like to see more behind the scenes, what it takes to hang (2) treestands, what the camera man goes through to get the shot on tape. Maybe explaining more of the equipment they are using, breaking down the bow into what rest they use, arrows, quiver, etc. and for gun what type and what ammunition they use for it. I like to see more of the camp atomosphere too. The joking at the table, pulling jokes on each other and good old fashion horseplay that you see at deer camp. Like to see more ground blind hunting as I know Bill likes to build them up and he seems to be the king of the brush blind. As for entertainment between segments Foxworthy and T-Bone do a great job with their hillbilly mentality. Keep those 2 as the keep it funny. Overall I think Realtree tries it best to make a great video but if we could relate more to their gear and what works for them would be interesting to see. One question I have is why do Bill and David keep switching bows from Fred Bear, Hoyt, and now to Mathews and Michael sticks with Hoyt. That would be interesting to hear why. Tominator
Re: Question From Realtree Video Dept. Bring back Foxworthy and that shooting contest. I didn't like last year's archery tourney format at all. Definitely like to see more archery than rifle and muzzloader. Although I do like the devastating effects of a shotgun slug. I'd like to see more of the before and after hunts, the strategies around the breakfast/lunch tables, and the story telling around the tailgates after the hunt. And for Pete's sake, please, somebody in the industry listen: Show us a blood trail from beginning to end without the fake "hey, there he is" with the cameraman standing right beside the pretty cleaned up deer. Thanks for asking Scott.

need2hunt
Re: Question From Realtree Video Dept. I enjoy the MB series. I would like to see a better variaty of hunts as far as location goes... last year there were 37 hunts - 9 (24%) from montana, 10 (27%) from texas and 7 (19%) from kansas... so 70% of the hunts were from 3 states. Look at the Realtree frapper map and see where the majority of members are from and how many members are from MT, TX and KS... if the forum members are a good sampling of your buying audience then maybe you should consider hunting in more states or areas that they can relate to better or at least give them a better sampling. As for bowhunts/gunhunts I would prefer more of a 60% bow / 40% gun selection instead of the more 50/50 that you had last year. I'll agree that seeing the same hunt on multiple videos is really annoying and also the further we can get away from the fake/staged/cutaway shots the better IMO. Adjam5
Re: Question From Realtree Video Dept. Make every effort NOT to duplicate the hunts. I like the bow and muzzle hunts. The rifle hunts are OK, but I like getting them in close. I'd also like to see what it takes for the camera crew to get set up before the hunt. Film their climb up and down. Show some scouting and keep the cam on the deer after the shot. As someone else also mentioned, I'd like to see a couple kids hunting also. ksdeerhunter03
Re: Question From Realtree Video Dept. I am no expert in this area, but I would like to see the following: Make sure Ginger Moreheads Kansas bowhunt is on there this year! (she killed it on my land!) The archery tournament is awesome, why not do a online contest from this forum and have two come shoot the tourney with you all, one on each team or something. I love the bowhunts, rifle is ok, I like the 75% bowhunt balance however! The music is kina old, it seems to drag or whatever, pep that up, or just use the ambient noise the mic gets. ***put a heart monitor on them, and show it on the screen, like indicating if they get excited, heartbeat raises etc, when a deer comes in and the shots*** Keep up the good work, I love it! Guest TheDeerHunter
Re: Question From Realtree Video Dept. I love the Monster Bucks videos. I agree with others about showing more of what goes into each hunt, like background on the area they are going to be hunting. I liked last years archery tournament but it could have been a little bit better. Also last year I noticed that there wasn't any optional commentary on the videos. I really liked hearing what everyone had to say about the hunts and what went into them. Also show some out takes and behind the scenes footage like you did on either Monster Bucks 11 or 12. I thought it was helarious where you asked each hunter questions and showed what went into the filming of the archery tournament. Keep up the great work! maddhunter
Re: Question From Realtree Video Dept. I have always and still do enjoy watching them every year. I also would like to see some more and/or different states and maybe some public bow hunting only land hunts. I know that would take more time and money but I think it would be worth it. Maybe just one on each volume, and even maybe a slug or rifle hunt on public land. Don't get me wrong I love seeing them MONSTERS they take on there but maybe something that the 80% of us would be more likely to call a "Buck of a Lifetime" like a 120 class bucks. Guest Huntin_Cop
Re: Question From Realtree Video Dept. I don't know if this would tie into the hunting aspect of the "Monster Bucks" videos, but I'd like to see a video honoring the largest bucks ever taken. Maybe show, like, a top ten list including a short bio on the buck, hunter, and location of where he was harvested. It's bucks such as the Hanson Buck, Jordan Buck, Johnson Buck, and Lovestune Buck that motivates most hunters to get out in the woods and hunt. I'd love to learn more about these great bucks as well as the hunters who harvest them. The internet and magazines just don't do these deer justice. Just a thought. Guest tyshe17
Re: Question From Realtree Video Dept. I am pretty much right with brad on this one, I think he has some great ideas with the bow/gun mixture, heart beat moniter and all. Also, more detail/ a better feel of what the outfitters are like. And who you get to a stand. I know some out fitters practically drive you to stands, and some and a little more on your own feel to it. This would be something that people looking to book a hunt would like to know.

preacherman
Re: Question From Realtree Video Dept. I really enjoyed Monster Bucks 10 and 11 when there were alot of hunts with Bill, David and Michael. There are alot of the guys that were shown on 12 and 13 that I didn't have a clue who they were and really didn't care watching them. As far as gun, bow, muzzleloader. It doesn't matter to me. Just give us more of these guys.

dg
Re: Question From Realtree Video Dept. Yeah, a game land video would be cool. IF you take the map, topography, some scouting and turn it into an educational video, that would be cool. Not pay off some local that has been hunting it for years. I hear the 4 bow-only counties in West Va produce some nice deer. They are few and far between. And most places do not have the 4-wheeler trails. You have to huff it in. Go for it RT! Show US how to scout on the internet, hunt a foreign area, and have the success as you do on the deer ranch. Remember, you can gain respect by trying something hard and failing (if it happened) in front of the viewers probably more than waltzing in to a deer ranch with guides. If you could at least video a nice buck in that country, that's a win situation. I can respect that............. But please spare us the archery pro's, sports figure, hollywood types that get led by the hand to shoot a deer. They do no scouting, just rely on a guide to tell them where to go. That's not what it's all about IMHO.
