preacherman
Have an opportunity to buy a Remington 7400 Automatic in a .308 caliber. Was wondering if anyone knows anything about these little guns. Have heard both positive and negatives from local people around here. Please help me if you can. Thanks, Scott
AJ
Re: Remington 7400 Automatic .308 They are decent guns. I have its predecessor the 742 in 30-06. And its a decent gun, not great but decent. I got it for a good price, so I jumped on it. I would advise the same. If you can get it for a good price, get it. fisherguy
Re: Remington 7400 Automatic .308 My dad shoots that gun in 30-06 and it has been great to him. Anything below about -30 it basically becones a single shot, but it is accurate and reliable in normal conditions.
JimT
Re: Remington 7400 Automatic .308 I am not a big fan of autoloader rifles, and prefer pump rifles. But if you can get it on the cheap like AJ said go for it if it is what you want.
LETMGROW
Re: Remington 7400 Automatic .308 I have hunted for quite sometime with 7400's. 30-06 carbine and .308 rifle. Both are good shooters, maybe the .308 a little better. I have had one jamb with the .06 which I blame myself for. The .308 never a problem. Shorter action probably lends itself to less chance of a cycling problem in extreme cold. Keep it clean, properly [not overly] lubed and I'm sure you won't have any problems. Guest lilcrackshot
Re: Remington 7400 Automatic .308 I personally prefer the pumps but the autos are great. Reliable, low-recoil, generally accurate. Can't ask for much more in a good deer gun.
