Shawn
well saturday morning i was sitting in my treestand when at 8:28 two fawns coming walking up and bed 20 yards to my left. after about an hour of bedding down one gets up to walk around. well he starts walking right at me. and then sees me, and i didnt even move. turns out hes a small button buck. he looks back at the second fawn which gets up and walks right to me. now here i am sitting for an hour and a half with my butt asleep and hurting with two button bucks at 5 feet. its funny when ya think about it. how innocent they think everything is unitl they get older and know what danger really is. i dont know exactly why i posted this. just felt like sharing. myself, i dont shoot fawns. just my preference. but it find it awesome to to be able to be that close to a deer, and just watch it. what yall think? well good hunting. good luck
Sam16
Re: Gotta love them Button Bucks I hunt a stand where every day at 4 pm a button buck walks within 5 yards of my stand. One time he came in w/ his sister and mother and the mother freaked out after seeing my decoy. We nicknamed this button buck "buddy" just cuz he seems like a pet already. He's looked up at me, but never once has he suspected a problem, he is one hungry dude though! He's always munchin, it's sorta fun to watch him though. Tominator
Re: Gotta love them Button Bucks yep. they're pretty stupid, or innocent i guess. i had 2 of them bumping heads a couple weeks ago. their momma caught me going for the bow (i was going to shoot her), and she took off. the two buttons ran around and played all around me. i bleated, grunted and rattled them back 5 times while trying to get their momma to come back, but they never did. buckbuster11
Re: Gotta love them Button Bucks Yup, those button bucks are dumber then rocks this time of year. I love watching them try to figure this whole rut thing out. I've got a couple good stories involving those little guys. My favorite took place probably 7 or 8 years ago. It was midday during the rut and my dad and I were moving a couple 12' ladder stands to get on top of a scrape line we just found. My dad was carrying the stand (all 12' still intact) when all of the sudden a doe comes busting out of the brush right in front of him. Not far behind was a button buck and he literally....and I mean literally, ran right into the ladder section of the stand he was carrying. He stood there look at the metal contraption he just plowed into, looked right at my dad who was standing there shocked, and then remembered the doe he was after and trotted on after her. What a scene that was......

Norm Sauceman
Re: Gotta love them Button Bucks I will not shoot a button and do not allow them to be shot on my dad's farm..If you want meat..shoot a doe...That is the way it is where I hunt or you don't hunt there... Sam16
Re: Gotta love them Button Bucks This is an old post, and i already told u how i have a couple lil button bucks that come in every night and that they dont care that im there... well heres a funny update. Theres a group of about 7-9 fawns that come in just about every evening and spend a lot of time around me. Well after about 20 minutes of them being there they end up catching my movement somehow... but now they look at me, and forget about me in a second. They are so used to me that i can stand up and sit down when i have 7 of them within 15 yards and they just look at me... They are prolly thinking "man that is one big squirrel" haha. Anyways, these guys are like pets to me, and i can even get out of my stand at dark and they run to about 40 yards out and just watch me walk away... and when i get into the house right away i look out the window and they are right back under my stand. They probably think im a very rare nocturnal species that goes in the house at dark every night, haha. I think it's pretty funny.
spcfoor
Re: Gotta love them Button Bucks My very first deer I ever killed was a button buck. It was the second day of doe season in PA 1993. I skipped school to try and get my first and my dad and I walked behind the house where there was some woods. I walked to the top of the hill and he started to walk thru. He got about 5 yards in the woods and he said that they exploded with deer. Well they made it to my side of the woods and I shot the last one running away from me. I got up to it and sure enough it was a button buck. I'll never forget the first one.
