Hoosierbuck Posted December 22, 2005 Report Share Posted December 22, 2005 Re: boiling heads One other thing that is helpful in getting the skull white is to take a wire hanger, and before you begin boiling the head, jam it up in the hole in back and jumble out as much brain as you can. Brain is fatty tissue and if you boil it in there, it is absorbed into the skull and yellows it. When you boil, throw a handful of washing soda (Sal soda or arm and hammer WASHING soda-by the detergent at the store) in the pot. Also, you can make a paste by using 40% peroxide (go to a beauty supply store, "Clairol clairoxide pro #40 clear developer" they call it) and Bondex brand whiting and put that on the skull, let it dry and brush it off-repeat as much as you want to get it white. Then I seal mine with a couple coats of semi-gloss spray enamel. PRO-fessional looking. Matter of fact, I got the recipie from a professional. rockefeller66 Posted December 22, 2005 Report Share Posted December 22, 2005 Re: boiling heads we just cut all the meat and such off the we can then boil them, scrape off some more meat, boil them, cut off more meat, and continue until the skull is cleaned, then put the skull in a bleach solution, haven't done it for years I am a little rusty on the exact process.
