johnf
I was thinking of getting a Nef Huntsman barrel for my handy rifle. I was wandering if any of you had any experience with the huntsman. I can get the barrel for $79, but don't want to waste my money if it's not going to be any better than what I've got. I have a T/C scout that's slinging bullets a little. It's a pain to clean and the scope is mounted on the reciever not the barrel so everytime I clean it the gun has to be sighted in again. Because of the way the barrel is shaped I can't use pellets.
AJ
Re: NEF ML barrel I am planning to get this one for my Pardner frame. I have not played with the Huntsman.
johnf
Re: NEF ML barrel It would be nice to go smokeless, but that $300 price tag is a bit out of my range, I could get a new black diamond for less than that. Just couldn't justify it myself, but I know your more into the "BIG BOY" guns than me. I'm all about cost effectiveness.
reward
Re: NEF ML barrel I've got a huntsman for my handi rifle. It shoots better than an encore I owned last year. The ramrod is kind of a pain but I use a range rod most of the time. Mine is a tack driver at 100 yards with 90gr 777 and a 295gr powerbelt. The primer carriers last a long time and I find them easier to use than just a 209 primer. Good luck.

AJ
Re: NEF ML barrel I remember with the Huntsman, H&R said 100 gr max loads. If you want magnum performance, shoot 100 gr of 3f T7.
reward
Re: NEF ML barrel AJ's right. They recommend no more than 100 gr of powder. 90gr of 777 is what mine liked best. Gun has a great factory trigger on it.
Guest coop2564
Re: NEF ML barrel My Huntsman will out shoot both my bolt ML's. I love it. Very easy to clean. As reward said the ram rod has to have a few tricks done to be of much use. a 8/32 to 10/32 adater $2.30 at midsouth.com and a good jag of your choice and its fine. If you have never had a trigger job on your handi when you send it in to fit for the huntsman barrel, request one they will do it for free.
