Tominator
OK folks. We have 10 people on the list so far, which is good enough for me, It's a go. Now, criteria for the winners. Here's my thoughts, I think it's fair and funny. I say we measure the tail, or incisors (bottom front teeth), and add the top 5 squirrels we get. It's easy, and easy to prove with a picture and tape measure, or ruler, I also think it will cut down on just killing for the numbers. Tom2008
Re: Squirrel Contest Criteria I say measure tails. Would the top 5 be from each team or the top 5 of 1 person?

Squirrelhunter91
Re: Squirrel Contest Criteria Not everyone has a scale.. I think I have a scale.. not sure.. but still.. not everyone does.. Longest tail should work or longest overall length of squirrel.
Tominator
Re: Squirrel Contest Criteria Personally, I think weight is out because not many people have a certified scale, or any kind of scale. If that's the way you guys want to go though, have at it, but be prepared for boo hoo stories, (which I see are already starting to surface) Tooth length would be good because a longer tooth probably means an older squirrel. Squirrels being rodents have incisors that continue to grow their whole lives. Measuring something, be it tails or teeth is easy to certify and easy to add up. As far as team or individual, I don't care, top five for the team, or top 10 for the team, doesn't really matter to me as I'm not in this. Up to you guys. Guest fourtrax_300
Re: Squirrel Contest Criteria i say we just do tail length. and the tails must attached to the squirrels in the pics. cause i know that i and others could pull out the longest tails out of our collections and get a better score. i think that it should be top 5 for the team. cause what if 10 squirrels and not killed between the 2 teamates. i guess it would just be tough crap or we could just do 5. how long will the contest last ? like a a few days during the weekend or a full week or something ? Guest lovinbowhuntin247365
Re: Squirrel Contest Criteria till everyones season is over, probably ... but we could measure h ow fat the squirrel is for each species, would that work? along with the tail measurement?? AJ
Re: Squirrel Contest Criteria So someone can enter fox squirrels that are huge compared to a grey squirrel or red squirrel?
Guest lovinbowhuntin247365
Re: Squirrel Contest Criteria no, measure the girth for each individual species .. that way its fair for each species of squirrel
Tominator
Re: Squirrel Contest Criteria [ QUOTE ] So someone can enter fox squirrels that are huge compared to a grey squirrel or red squirrel? [/ QUOTE ] Contest would end March 1st it looks like. So far I think that's the latest date. Pictures with tails attached is a good idea, I like that. I don't like the girth idea--too complicated to come up with a "fair" system to make all species of squirrel even. Personally, I'd consider the fox squirrel the "Booner" of the squirrel world. I would think that would be incentive for you squirrel hunters to go out and get a few for your team. 3 more days to sign up.
AJ
Re: Squirrel Contest Criteria Dang then I should sign up, the area I hunt is loaded with fox squirrels. Na, I will let the kids have fun.
Tominator
Re: Squirrel Contest Criteria [ QUOTE ] So if it's tail lenght, will the longest tail be the winner or the combined lenght of all tails? like each inch being worth 1 point, 1/2 inch = .5 pts, .25 inch = .25 pts (cause not all tails come out to a perfect length) [/ QUOTE ] Total of 5 tails for the team. We'll do like Pope and Boone do, round to the nearest 1/8" And for our Canadian brothers, I guess we should say Inches, not Centimeters. [/ QUOTE ] Actually, by my count we have 15 people signed up, and you would make it 16, which would be cool because then we'd have 8 two man/woman teams. Are you in?
