MCH
Re: 2006 Competition scores Good shooting Tony. I'm gonna have to live vicariously through you guys, this year. Doubt I get to pick up the bow for competition. Hopefully, I'll get better by next bow season. Good luck, guys.
NYBUCK
Re: 2006 Competition scores Tony help me here. I am thinking that those scores you posted are pretty good. I am going to be starting a paper league Jan 9th. So they tell me that we will shoot 60 arrows. Soooooo I am thing that a perfect score would be 300 with 60 X's. Correct ??? What can I expect for me ???
NYBUCK
Re: 2006 Competition scores Tony nevermind, I just saw your other post on scoring. That clears alot up. I have never shot this before but I am looking forward to it. I still dont know what to expect.
Canuck2
Re: 2006 Competition scores Tony, you continue to shoot consistently well - nice going. nybuck, I think you'll have a lot of fun shooting 5 spots. Hard to say what score you'll land on, but there's just one way to find out. Once hooked, you'll be constantly striving for the elusive 300, then trying to crank up the x count. I'm trying to break the 50x barrier and have nudged it a couple times lately. Most recent round was last night and I backed off a bit with a 300-45x. Tony
Re: 2006 Competition scores i shot very well in league again tuesday night. i shot another 300-54 X again. but i started out really hot. i had the first 38 Xs out of 40 Xs and thought man here i go im on my way to shooting 58 X or so. everything was just clicking. it seemed so easy and effortless.. i shot 18 X 100 and 20 X 100 the second game . i figured yep here we go.. then Slap Slap Slap . theres a 3 X end .. back to reality .. i shot 16 X 100 the last game for 300 -54 X . but i was very happy with the good start i had. always have to find a posititve to your game, no matter how it ends up.. Tony
Re: 2006 Competition scores i went into the shop on saturday and got to shoot with Ultratec1 and some friends. Ultratec1 put the smackdown on me and he shot 300-54X with BHFS gear... good shooting BJ... i only shot 300-50 X . thats my second day in a row shooting for score. i see i need to build up my shooting if i want to adverage 300-55X for 2 days .. Canuck2
Re: 2006 Competition scores Wednesday evenings are the ones I look forward to. Tonight I shot 300-47x, which I'm pleased enough with. But I'm still trying to break the elusive 50x mark. Tony, a bad game for you (100-16x, as mentioned above) seems to be as good as I can expect so far. I did hit 49x one night, but got 299 in the process. If I could just have that single blown shot over again...
Tony
Re: 2006 Competition scores Canuck2 good round , the Xs will come , just concentrate on the center of the white or get some 2613s.. well i missed tuesday night league . so i hadnt shot for 3 days. i went into the shop to shoot weds night and expected to shoot a killer round. yea i did that all right . i shot a 299-46X .. i could not figure out why i was shooting so bad. problem was i got sloppy and just was going through the motions. so i got slightly irritated and shot another 300 round. with proper form and execution. much better 300-57X.... it was so easy . i figured out that i didnt have my draw elbow in the right spot. once it was high and back where it belonged it was so easy. only dropped 3 Xs the whole game. so after shooting over 140 arrows last night im taking a day off. but i will be hunting friday evening and then into the shop for more practice. i have a tourny to shoot this sunday in Des Moines. Canuck2
Re: 2006 Competition scores Tony, I want all inside-outs, so no 2613's for me - got to stick to skinny ones. Actually it's gradually getting easier; will get there eventually. Great analysis on correcting your problem; second round sure beat the first one all to heck. That should be a good confidence builder and show you what you are capable of and hold you in good stead at Des Moines. Good luck.
Tony
Re: 2006 Competition scores i shot a couple of Vegas rounds getting ready for the Pro/Am this next weekend. i shot 298-16X and 296-13 X which is ok , but i shot ok the first game and not so hot the last one... that mulitcolored target face just messes with me. i have a hard time concentrating on the center of the target . i just need to shoot it more often. like 20 rounds this next week. im off to shoot a small local tourny in about 1/2 hour. should be a lot of fun and it will be good to see some old friends... Tony
Re: 2006 Competition scores i shot a small local tourny in Des Moines at Archery Field and Sport on sunday . its like i fell asleep at the switch and couldnt remember how to shoot. i shot a pretty bad score of 299-45X... i had fun talking to some old friends and watching Hugo shoot 300-59X. that guys on his game early and i look for him to be a contender at the Iowa Pro/Am in the pro division... this shop closing thing has me upset and i just cant seem to concentrate. i just wonder why im even shooting anymore. it seems that i dont care about Indoor at all. i just need some time to take it all in and figure out what im going to do... Tony
Re: 2006 Competition scores have any of you just been down and then get jump started . i got jumped last night. Ultratec1 gave me some good advice. actually it wasnt advice , it was just what was going on with his shot . so i started wondering , am i really doing what i think im doing ? i mean i have been thinking im letting my pin float and concentrating on the center of the target . but i really wasnt. so i made the commitment last night. i wasnt one bit concerned with where my pin was on the target. as long as the shot felt good and i was 100% concentrating on the center of the target. it took me a few rounds to get it going. but what happend was a first for me. i shot my first clean 300 Vegas round ( 300-21X ) actually there are 36 shots in the target . 12 shots per each spot and 2 ends are practice.. [image][/image] we will see what happens tonight in league , i plan on trying the exact same method of aiming tonight. Tony
Re: 2006 Competition scores i shot league last night and i shot 300-51X. the first game i was just not comfortable with my grip and anchor . so i struggled. i made up for it on the second half by only dropped 3 Xs out of the next 40 shots . Canuck2
Re: 2006 Competition scores Not a good night for me - 299-38x. I started off horrible with a 4 and just 10x's in the first game. Got told I was taking a look, which became painfully obvious once I had it pointed out to me. Although not exactly stellar, things did improve quite a bit for the rest of the round. Tony, nice shooting, especially the Vegas round.

Canuck2
Re: 2006 Competition scores As usual, I had an enjoyable Wednesday night out with the boys. Got some kinks ironed out of the high school kids first (I had a head to head recurve competition with one of the newer archers and he whooped me ), then the adults took over. I'm at a plateau with my spots; got about the usual -or so it seems - 300-46x. I seem to avoid those nasty 4's but cranking those groups a little tighter seems to elude me. I think I'll be focussing more on the Vegas targets from here on, as I intend to hit the British Columbia Indoor Championships in April. That will be 2 targets per day for 2 days, 120 shots for the event.
hangunnr
Re: 2006 Competition scores Started our indoor leagues last week. I'm shooting with two different clubs this year. Week one I shot 300-57X and 300-48X. The first night was smooth as silk when everything went as it should have. The next night I was rushed to get to the range and didn't get much warm up time. I struggled for every shot. Shot last night for a 300-52X. Not a bad night but there is still alot of room for improvement. hangunnr

NYBUCK
Re: 2006 Competition scores Well my scores will not be impressive at all. I am simply shooting my hunting set-up. They have a league (300) for the bowhunters and the open shooters. I really like it, who knows maybe someday I will up grade my equpment but right now I am just enjoying the shoots. Week 1 287 29 x's Week 2 285 22 x's I was hoping to improve my scores but that didn't happen last night.
Tony
Re: 2006 Competition scores nybuck are those Vegas targets or 5 spots your shooting ? dont worry about the bowhunting setup. if thats what you use all the time all its going to do is make you better and better before bow season gets here. thats why most of us shoot target and competition , to become better shooters for bowhunting .. i shot a 300-50X last night , i have switched back to my old grip position. i changed it a few months ago and i just cant get the right feel for it. so i went back to what i know works. shots feel a lot better . also im working on this let the pin float and concentrate on the center . it tough to do right now, but i feel its going to help me a lot later.. my follow through has improved a ton since switching my grip also.
