Re: 2006 Competition scores

Tony it is five spot. I know what you mean by helping my shooying. Man you really have to concentrate. Its good for me. I really enjoy it. The one thing I noticed is that for some reason I always shoot to the left indoors. Why is that. I have to do some work on my sight cause I cant get it anymore left right now.

By the way, great shooting Tony. At least I know what you guys are doing now when you post your scores.

Re: 2006 Competition scores

hangunnr, nice shooting.

nybuck, Tony called it. Until this year, I always used my hunting rig for all types of shooting, including indoor spots and outdoor 900 rounds. As you said. it makes you concentrate and the improvement over time is noticeable.

As for shooting off to one side, perhaps you're getting reflection from the lights. I experienced similar problems outside with my fibre optic pins, depending on the time of day and which direction the Sun was coming from. I seemed to light up the pins more on one side than the other, so I was getting windage changes.

Re: 2006 Competition scores

Monday evening this week was just a relaxing BS session with the boys. Nobody scored and whenever anyone felt the urge to shoot, he just got up and flung a trio of arrows. After awhile, everyone would mosey down the range and retrieve.

Tonight I shot a Vegas round of 30. Score was 293-10x. The upcoming B.C. Indoors in April uses this format, 2 targets each day for 2 days. If I edge myself up a couple points per target, I should do OK in the old geezers division. Got to think cautiously positive. grin.gif

Re: 2006 Competition scores

Shot my first 3-d Sunday with my new bow. Release was going off very nice but the rain made vision through my scope almost impossible. Plus I almost froze to death. I started on the more difficult side before the rain started and shot the first 6 targets 2 down. Anyway I only shot 27 down, not bad for the conditions.

Week 3

Shot 287 with 22 X's

Little mad cause I tinkered with some stuff and had the bow shooting great last night and in the warm-up tonight.

As I told you before I am shooting in the bowhunter league and the other 5 guys I shoot with are in the open class. well one guy shot a 300 tonight with 50 x's. It was pretty cool.

So far in the league ...

Week 1 287 29 x's

Week 2 285 22 x's

Week 3 287 22 x's

Re: 2006 Competition scores

im sad . i shot my last indoor 5 spot in our local archery shop last night . we are moving everything this morning to rays garage . he will run a pros shop out of it , but no shooting lanes.

i shot 300-50 X last night. started out pretty hot ( 18 X )and then just had 1 shot each end that i lost focus on.

closest plave for me to shoot is 27 miles away. its really nice and has great lighting. i will post a few pics of it here . it has a max of 34 yards from the shooting line, but you can get 45 if theres no one else shooting .

good shooting guys .

Re: 2006 Competition scores

Went to a Tournament in Columbus, Nebraska and shot a 300-53X and the next day shot a 360 vegas round and ended up shooting a 353 in that. I started out real good shooting 30 straight X's, thats including the 2 practice ends. My next 4 ends were all 4x ends and the last was just a mix.

Re: 2006 Competition scores

I nabbed the opportunity to shoot twice this week, Monday and tonight, and shot Vegas targets both times. Monday I got 293-9x and tonight 291-12x. Tonight there was quite a turnout and we BS'd more than we shot - in fact, it was a real good opportunity to try and shut out all the background noise going on and concentrate on the shot. Good practice.

Re: 2006 Competition scores

Tony, that is very fine shooting; good for you. Them baby x's are really elusive. A hearty congratulations on taking the class.

I went on a bit of a road trip Saturday to a new facility about 70 miles from here, mainly to see what it was like to shoot somewhere other than the comfortable confines of the home court. It was much more spacious than what we have here, and the lighting was much brighter. So bright, in fact, that it overpowered my .019 pin and I shot horrible. But it was a terrific experience in that I now know that I have to contend with varying conditions.

traveling to new places will definately make you get experience for all types of lighting and surroundings. its a lot of fun too. grin.gif

i shot a nice little 300-55X with Ultratec1 last night. he was sick and was having probs just standing . but it was fun to talk to him and get the skinny from his good shooting at the Nebraska shoot. get well bud.

*L* @ ultratec1. I hope you're feeling better now.

I shot like a sack of - well, not very good this week. Score was 290 8x, and I thank my lucky stars I managed to get that.

Tony, sweet 5 spot.

OntHunter, are you shooting 5 spots or Vegas or other? Good to see an Ontarian on here.

Re: 2006 Competition scores

Question for all you competition shooters ....

The guy that owns the bow shop told me that I am the only one shooting in the bow hunter class, I told him I didn't really care. But the whole league is handicapped. All the open shooters are getting 65 % he suggested that he could give me 80%. I don't know and really doesnt matter to me. I am just having fun shooting with these guys. Do any of you have any ideas how to run this and make it fair at the same time ????

Re: 2006 Competition scores

Before when we shot league everyone got 80%.No matter what class you shot. You're total score with handicap could not excede the 300rd you were shooting. So if you shot a 290,your're handicap is 8 with a total score of 298.

Re: 2006 Competition scores

boy i was on last night at league. wink.giftongue.gifi shot a monster 299-50 Xs.. tongue.giftongue.gif

guess it was bound to happen. i changed my draw length and shortened it by a 1/4 inch. i tried to make things better and they got worse. yep sometimes i just wonder what im thinking.

today im changing back to my normal 29 inch draw.

good post Logcabin. good to see you helping the guys out here. Mike has a lot of info to share .. its just getting it out of him thats hard.. grin.gif
