struttinhoyt
Re: 2006 Competition scores Went to the Paris Invataional..... it was a 30 target shoot.... you shoot 15 targets and then eat and take a break and go shoot the other 15 targets... I made the mistake of stayin up late the night before..... got up and headed that way...... got down there and we shot the first 15 targets..... I stunk it up bad..... I think I had like 3-5's I ended up bein 19 down when we ate lunch..... then we went back out and i felt a little better since we had ate lunch...... shot the last 15 targets first 4 targets I shot were X's and we finished up and I had shot a 291 on a 30 target shoot so I made up for alot of error on the first half.....but the first half just totally sucked...... every target was anywhere from 28-40 yds,,,,, they were out there a ways..... It was a real good shoot.......
Tony
Re: 2006 Competition scores i went to the IBA fall Festival with Ryan and his wife Julie today. weather was great and there were a lot of people there. it was fun having Julie walking with us the second half, she did not shoot. i shot good today . they only score 10 ,8 5 counting center Xs as tie breakers. i shot 196 the first 20 and 185 the second 20. for a total of 381 with 15 Xs. while i did finish 19 down, i was just off on 6 10s and i felt good about my shooting again. i had just 1 5 today and its was a really blown range estimation. a pair of fighting grizzlies that i judged for 48 and it was more like 40. i still cant believe it was only 40 yards. they looked a mile away. i dont know where i ended up, but i didnt make the top 5 for the shoot off. but it was a good day for me... had a great time with ryan and his wife today... Tony
Re: 2006 Competition scores had pretty much the whole week off, shot only 30 or so arrows saturday evening. i shot Pella Iowa today with logcabin ( Mike) and Ultratec1 ( BJ ). Mike absolutely just beat us to a pulp today. he shot 429 with 22 12s. Bj shot 410 with 10 12s and i shot 401 with 11 12s. its my first time ever shooting up on this course, so it felt good. Mikw was on some serious game and BJ beat me with my 05 Hoyt Ultratec i sold him. it was his first time shooting it at a tourny. he just set it up the other night. i will be shooting the Bowhunter Jamboree next weekend in Des Moines and a couple of more shoots with the open stuff. im kinda on a roll now and i hate to stop while things seem to be getting a lot better. Tony
Re: 2006 Competition scores i shot 401 at Montezuma saturday and today i shot 380 at the Bowhunter Jamboree. the 401 im proud of because that course is really tough. i shot 380 w 10 Xs today and i was shooting great. only 5 8s , but 2 5s on stupid spinning targets.. kind of burned me to take 2 5s on targets that i know i could nail easy at 33 and 36 yards. dont know where i ended up, but im sure 280 wont win.. im looking forward to getting 3d over with so i can shoot deer and spots targets.. look slike sept 9th will be the last shoot for me in 3D with open gear. then i should be able to get my hunting stuff dialed in.. ultratec1
Re: 2006 Competition scores Just shot my first 3 300 rounds of the year, Ya ya I know its early yet but I just had to do it. Not a great score, but for the first 3 of the year I will take them. I shot the first one wednesday and the last 2 on thursday. 1. 300-49x 2. 300-51x 3. 300-54x Just as long as they keep going up I won't complain. Logcabin is trying to see what he likes and then I believe it is game on for him as well.

MCH
Re: 2006 Competition scores Boy, looking at the scores, that could have been the easiest course Dave and Cindy have ever put up??? Usually, 5 over is good enough to win.
struttinhoyt
Re: 2006 Competition scores It was the same as the last shoot...... stakes ere in the same spot..... ultratec1
Re: 2006 Competition scores Shot on Monday night and was having a hard time letting the pin float. So I took a break and watched some T.V. at the range then tried something "alittle diffrent" . Not gonna say what I did diffrent just yet, I'll just have to shoot a couple more rounds and see if it works. I knew before I even released that I was dropping an X. I dropped 3 of them and finished with a 300-57X. It was real, real WEIRD shooting this way but it worked. It was pinwheel after pinwheel. I'll shoot another tonight and then again Friday and see what happens. Wish me luck I'm going to need it.
ultratec1
Re: 2006 Competition scores Well it seems like my "new and improved" system is working for me. I went with logcabin and shot another 300 round. Well I dropped a X in the 2nd end then another the 7 end. Well everything was cruising right along and it looked like I was on my way to shooting a 58 when "it" happened. I was pulling my bow back and half way the release goes off and I smash a 2613 cobalt throw a sheet of plywood that was hanging from the ceiling. I had thought my d-loop broke but the release just went off. So I shot 4 more arrows and dropped 2 X's worrying if the release was going to hold up. Well on my 5th arrow it did it again and released at half draw. Did some re-adjusting and some quick praying that I wouldn't get punched in the mouth again and finished with a 56X. This new "thing" that I'm doing is working wonders. It's no secret and I bet alot of you guys already shoot this way but it is diffrent from what I normally do and it seems to work so far. Tony
Re: 2006 Competition scores i sold my sureloc black eagle scope and im now shooting a 3X Specialty Archery Super D with a .019 pin. seems to be ok. i shot my first 300 with it just the other night. shot 300-52 X. i either need more power for indoor or i need to make that pin a lot bigger. havent decided which to do yet. but im ordering a new Super D for Indoor. i got to shoot with Ultratec1 and logcabin wed night. at there local shooting range. its a nice place to shoot. they are lucky to have it so close. Tony
Re: 2006 Competition scores went to Happy Apple to shoot today. made one bad shot and it cost me. i shot a 299-54X. no problem. X count heading up. im working on mental stuff right now. trying to get ready for the up coming tournys. but its tough with no archery shop close by. looks like i need to move to a place where they have a few indoor shops to shoot at and where they take indoor a little more serious. indoor target around central Iowa has almost dropped off the face of the planet. just a few years ago it was going strong, now its tough to find even a league to join. i really dont want to drive 40 miles one way just to shoot league in Des Moines. i need to find a place really close where i can shoot unlimited practice. Tony
Re: 2006 Competition scores shot a couple of Vegas rounds last evening. seems like i can shoot that Vegas spot better than 5 spots for some reason. finding the center of the yellow just seems so much easier. anyways. i shot a 297-19X and a 299-21X. was really pleased with my mental game on the second game. dropped a point on the first shot and then cleaned it the rest of the way. kind of figured out why things were shooting kind of weird in practice. i must have forgot i moved my draw length. cause one cam was on E and the other was on D.. DUH... im now set on D for both which is a 29 draw. had the hunting bow out as well getting ready for late season to open back up on the 18th of dec. shots were flying nice and accurate and quiet.. Tony
Re: 2006 Competition scores i shot the Iowa Pro Am last sat and sun. i shot a 355 out of 360 on saturday and a 305 sunday. saturadys score 355 was my personal best for the Pro Am. i was tied for like 8th going into the final day and couldnt get out of a bad funk at the start of my game. i shot a 305 out of 330. just lost concentration for some reason. i ended up tied for 17th out of 150 or so shooters. it was a good way to start the indoor target stuff. was pleased to shoot well the first day and just had a great time. had fun with a bunch of wild guys saturday night when we had dinner. i guess a whole day of serious concentration had to break sometime. i hope our waitress at the "Rib Crib" wasnt to unhappy with us. it was was fun to meet a lot of old friends and make a few new ones. Marcia Jones was honored at the Pro Am on sunday to be elected into the Iowa State Archery Hall of Fame. for her great service to the sport of archery in Iowa. she is also the local lady that fletches my arrows for me.. Congrats Marcia its a well deserved award for you. need to practice that vegas face a lot more and work on a few new things. next shoot might be in 2 weeks, i just dont know yet. deer huntin k-man
Re: 2006 Competition scores I shot in my first 3D tourny on Sunday morning. The way they score was a bit different from IBO. They shoot 30 targets and score 10,8,5 with X's being tie breakers. They dont allow any range finders and depending on the class that you are shooting in you have to shoot from different distinces. I entered the Open Bowhunter class. This has a 40 yard max shot. My nerves got the best of me for the most part today. Being new to everything I didnt realy get shooting decently until half way through. Out of 300 I scored a 209. It was U-G-L-Y. Only the top 5 shooters get points toward shooter of the year stats the the 5th place shooter shot 259. I hope by shooting in the competitions each week I will begin to improve. Im doing this mostly to improve and get ready for the deer season. I dont plan on competing for the shooter of the year title anytime soon. All in all it was a great time and I met alot of great people. Wish me luck in the coming weeks.
