Re: 2006 Competition scores

Not bad for your first time out.

My advice to you, would be to set up goals. Right now, I'd sit down and write down where you want to be by the end of the year. It could be as simple as a high score or a first place finish.

Then, write down the steps it would take to get to that spot. Let's say if you want to shoot a 280. Since there's 8 months of 3-D left(assuming through Sept.), you would need to add 10 points to your score each month.

This is basically what I did when I started out. Now I've narrowed my goals down to limiting the number of 8's I shoot or maximizing the number of X's.

If things go well and you attain your goals, next year I'd bet Shooter of the Year won't be out of your reach.

Re: 2006 Competition scores

went and shot at happy Apple archery tonight. i shot a 299-21x vegas round. [image]Happy_B-Day_OBT_Vegas_001.jpg[/image]

after that i shot a 28 x out of 30 X 5 spot round for a neat little 57X on both targets. grin.gif

seems i have made a few new changes, i took my pin out of my scope and im just using the hole where it went through my center drilled lens. seems i can see this as well as my black pin, but its not as distracting. which allows me to relax a little more and see through to the center of the targets with out a black dot in the way.

Hmmmm.. have to do a little more shooting to see if its really going to workout. but i shot 28Xs out of 30 on a 5 spot with it this way. nows the time to experiment a little. wink.gif

Re: 2006 Competition scores

Shooting relaxed is the key to indoor. I can get away with being more aggresive at 3-d but indoor is a different game. Hard to shoot 60 arrows tense. Taking away the pin will do just that, relax ya'.

Berine (I know some can't stand him, but he has some great points) says for most a huge pin or a ring works best. The center hole with no pin is working like a ring for you.

Hope to catch up with you in Louisville.

Re: 2006 Competition scores

hope to see you at Louisville also Matt.

i shot tonight and i shot really well. since i have no target to post i will just say i shot my best round for the Vegas target so far this year....300-22X.. grin.gif

finished up my practice with 5 spots and hammered them pretty good. my hope is to take this form and being relaxed to my next shoot and see what happens.

next shoot is the Holiday Inn Shoot in Omaha Neb sunday the 21st.

me and Ultratec1 will be traveling together.

we are going to shoot a 5 spot 360 in the morning and a vegas 360 in the afternoon. looks like over 110 arrows in one day. ooo.gif

Re: 2006 Competition scores

300, 52X at the first night of league. It helps shooting side by side with Ken Likens. I promise, you will let down and not be in a hurry shooting with that guy. Anyway, I shot poorly the first half and dropped 6 X's. Shot good the second half and only dropped 2 X's.

I need to shoot good the rest of the year. Ken made me a launcher that should be the ticket. Called the Fat (ahem) Butt it is a lot more forgiving then the stock TT Springy.
