fisherguy
Not too big at all. It is a great caliber for big game in general. If you are just usin git for deer try a load in the 140-150 grain range. I shot two deer this fall with 175 grain bullets, but if i only hunted deer i would probably go lighter. Just try to avoid shoulder shots or there is a lot of meat loss.
njbowhntr
Re: 7 mag The 7mm is just fine for deer. I shoot a 7mm STW for deer. I shoot the 140gr Remington Core-Lokt's. As long as my shot placement is on, I do not waste any meat nor do they travel more than 30 yards after the shot.
elkhntnfool
Re: 7 mag I use my 7mm Rem. Mag for Antelope, deer and elk. I use the hornady 139gr. for Antelope and then resight it with 160gr accubonds for deer and elk. Works great for me.
Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: 7 mag Winchester Supreme Ballistic Silvertips - 140 gr (they also make 150 gr) They shoot 1.5 inch groups out of my Savage at 200 yards and 4 inch groups at 400 yards. Bullets perform great on deer sized game. I WOULD NOT recommend these bullets for elk or moose sized game though.
