Re: **Attacked by a Blacktail Buck**

I've been walking around all day saying "Unfreakin real", Chrud. I'm just lucky that puppy was as weak as he was, because even being weak, he almost had the edge on me.

If he had of been healthy, this would have obviously never happened. He would have ran out to my buddy, and I'd be telling a whole different story.

I'll tell ya though...THAT, was the best, and most exciting, most unforgettable one-man deer drive I have ever done in my life grin.gif

Coming from a lot of people i would have to call BS, but not from you. That is definately a story to tell! All i have to say is this...never in a million years would that have happened if you had a bow, and a buck tag. lol

[/ QUOTE ]

No kidding. I still don't believe it myself. I was thinking as I walked in on him at first, when I got to about 20 yards .."What a great bow-shot from here"

Then I got closer and closer, and things just kinda got crazier and crazier from there.

What a day...what a weird, weird day grin.gif

thats exactly right....the best part of the sory was when steve throw the bark at him and hit the buck in the face...i was crackin up at that

Wow Steve, that is pretty crazy. After seeing the way the buck my daughter shot over the youth hunt tossed around one of the deer he was fighting with, I can honestly say I would never want to be in a position like that with just a pocket knife and a gloved hand.

You know Steve, members in our hunting group (myself including) has always joked, "I don't need this shotgun, I got my Buck knife....that is all I need!" Well, my man, your story takes the cake! I don't know too many guys that would take on a buck around here with just a knife, even if the buck was wounded. Amazing! cool.gifcool.gif

Re: **Attacked by a Blacktail Buck**

actually, I was so pumped up all day yesterday, that it didn't really hit me on how stupid I was to get that close to a mature buck, hurt or not.

All I was trying to do was push the deer to my buddy, but the whole plan went wrong.

There is no way on God's green earth that I would ever intentionally try to take on a mature buck, in hand to hand combat. I just got to brave or too stupid. Take your pick. crazy.gifblush.gif

wow, im amazed, but im also amazed at how in the pic there is no blood on the neck, if he was spewing out blood from his jugular, there would be a lot of blood stain on his neck, right? Still a great story, bet u were scared out of your mind.

Steve,

You're lucky. That deer coulda hurt you bad.

Glad you're OK.

Since the animal was already hurt I would consider it a blessing you ended his pain.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think that buck would have survived another week or so, in his condition. I am very lucky he was as weak as he was, because it definately would have turned out differently. But then again, if he was healthier, this whole story would never have happened. My buddy would have got him.

UNBELIEVABLE- not that I don't believe you.... Man Steve! You need to thank the Almighty! That is a story to beat all stories... We'll have to start calling you "old straight blade"

How about a forum contest for Steve's new name! Congrats on a great story and great deer (your greatest story yet).
