Guest AllArmyoutdoorsSD
My all most 4yr old daughter has been doing beauty pagents for about two years. I have been prettty much against it from the start. My ex travels all over the place so that my little one can compete, which takes away from my already limited time with her. I am not openly negative, but make it a point not to attend. I don't agree with babies wearing makeup and skimpy clothes etc... On the other hand My daughter holds a state title and is first runner up nationaly, I am proud of her. So do I stick by my guns or do I bite the bullett??? 6sixpoint_nobrows
Re: Need some input bite the bullet. shes your daughter, and they will only be young once, you will regret not going when shes older and doing other stuff...you better start going to them, plus that will let you see your duaghter more
HuntingInMaine
Re: Need some input If your daughter enjoys doing the pagents then you should attend these events and support her. I don't think they need the makeup and other grown up stuff either (they are naturally adorable) but that's what wins. If she doesn't like doing them then maybe it's time for a talk with mom.....either way if you go and watch that's more time with your daughter! VermontHunter
Re: Need some input I don't have any children so I will refrain from any comments..... but will say if you see it start to stress her out in any way and it's not fun for her any longer then I would become vocal....... Guest AllArmyoutdoorsSD
Re: Need some input I know that Jaimye enjoys going, I am just leary of her getting a distorted view on life. She was pretty bummed when she didn't get the national title, but not for losing, she was upset that she beat. does that make sense?
fisherguy
Re: Need some input I can definately see your concerns. I guess i would go and support her if she enjoys it, but if she stops enjoying it, or it seems to be having a negative impact on her I would have to say something and step in. I don't have kids, but that's my input anyway.

Guest Huntin_Cop
Re: Need some input It's hard for me to answer because I don't have any kids...yet... But as long as she enjoys it and wants to compete for herself, let her. And I'm sure you are proud of her. That's quite an acomplishment. wtnhunt
Re: Need some input Cannot possibly make a 4 year old understand your position on this. Think in your situation I would be supportive if it is something she truly enjoys even if it is not something you do. When she gets old enough to understand she will appreciate you that much more. popgun
Re: Need some input I say stick by your guns and don’t encourage your daughter to participate. You say she has been participating for two years and that she enjoys it. How could she know one way or the other when she was two years old? I know this is blunt, but your “ex” is using the child support money you send, to live out some kind of false fantasy of her own. State title?….Little Miss what? There are so many of these contests that every one of the little girls wins some kind of trophy. Each and every one of us think our child is the cutest, prettiest, or most beautiful in the world, but you and your wife are being taken by the promoters and photographers that are running these questionable pageants. I say wake up, and try to wake up your “ex”. Pull your daughter out of this type of activity before some real damage is done. Do you want her to grow up thinking that she can get by with her looks, a smile, or a wink? Find something else that your daughter can do for enjoyment without her having to flaunt what God gave her. If you are questioning this activity enough to ask for opinions; I think you already have doubts as to whether it's an activity you want your daughter involved in. I told you this was going to be blunt, but it is my opinion. ….popgun
TreeWalker
Re: Need some input I posted this in another topic........if you're not there for her, at least explain to her fully why, so she can understand how you feel and that it is nothing against her...........one thing will never change, you're her Dad, and needs you in her life...........you can still be there for her and not support what her mother is putting her through..... For the record, i don't beleive in the exploiting of children either.....let them be kids for goodness sake, they only get to do it once..... BowJoe
Re: Need some input I have an idea. Take her hunting instead. If the mother protests then you have 2 yrs of backing that says, "Hey, you took her to what you loved exclusively and now it's my turn." Let her experience something else for a change. Pretty soon she'll be in school and your time will be even more limited. I bet she's either already in dance and tumbling or getting ready to be. You think your time is limited with her now? Just wait.
Guest AllArmyoutdoorsSD
Re: Need some input My dauhgter truly enjoys hunting, one of her favorite activities is watching Monster Bucks with dad, she even says MAaaah to stop the deer! Valkrie1357
Re: Need some input Do It For the Daugher, Not the EX!!! Let her Know How much she Means To You. If You Loose Contact with Her Now, it'll be much harder to get back into to her Life when You want to, if you don't show interest NOW. My daughter has a Girl Friend who got married last summer. The Dad Wasn't there ever, Jr High, High School, College. When she got Married, She Walked HERSELF Down the Isile. Don't Miss Out. Pride Doesn't Leave a Bad Taste In Your Mouth.
