Re: when scoring a rack.....?

you can find that on internet at google, just type in Pope and Young or Boone and Crocket, which ever you wish. You measure the smallest circufrence of the mainbeam at these points on each side

1-between bur and first point

2-between 1st and 2nd

3-between 2nd and 3rd

4-between 3rd and 4th

good luck!

Re: when scoring a rack.....?

slugger, you always get 4 mass measurements on both sides... on the 4 pt side since there is no G-4 to measure inbetween, measure the length of the main beam from where the G3 intersects the main beam out to the end of the main beam - divide that in half and thats where you'll make your 4th circ. measurement on that side.

Re: when scoring a rack.....?

Ohiobucks and I had this discussion about a month ago.

Pope and Young's web site states something like "if the G-4 is missing, measure the H-4 half way between the end of the main beam and G-3."

According to ohiobucks you don't get that last circumference measurement. Having gone back to read it, I really don't know if you get it or not.

You always get the H-4? confused.gif

Here's what Boone's page says:

Circumferences are taken at the narrowest place as detailed in Figure C for each measurement. If the brow point is missing, take H-1 and H-2 at the smallest place between the burr and the G-2 point. If the G-4 point is missing, take H-4 halfway between the G-3 point and the tip of the main beam.

Here's where I got that:
