Slugger
when your scoring a rack and your trying to get total gross inches if the rack is a 4x5 do you add the circumferance mesurements for the g4 on the one side and the cir. mesur. from between the g3 and end of the beam on the other or do they not count. if so then do they count in net.? rockefeller66
Re: when scoring a rack.....? you can find that on internet at google, just type in Pope and Young or Boone and Crocket, which ever you wish. You measure the smallest circufrence of the mainbeam at these points on each side 1-between bur and first point 2-between 1st and 2nd 3-between 2nd and 3rd 4-between 3rd and 4th good luck! Guest adamo
Re: when scoring a rack.....? slugger, you always get 4 mass measurements on both sides... on the 4 pt side since there is no G-4 to measure inbetween, measure the length of the main beam from where the G3 intersects the main beam out to the end of the main beam - divide that in half and thats where you'll make your 4th circ. measurement on that side. Tominator
Re: when scoring a rack.....? Ohiobucks and I had this discussion about a month ago. Pope and Young's web site states something like "if the G-4 is missing, measure the H-4 half way between the end of the main beam and G-3." According to ohiobucks you don't get that last circumference measurement. Having gone back to read it, I really don't know if you get it or not. Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: when scoring a rack.....? Always four circumference measurements on each main beam, H1 - H4, regardless of the number of points.
Tominator
Re: when scoring a rack.....? You always get the H-4? Here's what Boone's page says: Circumferences are taken at the narrowest place as detailed in Figure C for each measurement. If the brow point is missing, take H-1 and H-2 at the smallest place between the burr and the G-2 point. If the G-4 point is missing, take H-4 halfway between the G-3 point and the tip of the main beam. Here's where I got that: http://www.boone-crockett.org/bgRecords/...+Whitetail+Deer
Slugger
Re: when scoring a rack.....? ok guys thanks for the info. i thought you got to count it but my taxidermest was telling my i only got three per side we argued for a while then came to the conclusion that maybe you got to count 4 for gross but not net. now i guess i know. thanks again
SaskMan
Re: when scoring a rack.....? Texan is right, you always get 4. Like stated, take h4 halfway between the g3 and the end of the main beam. That is the official way.
