I just bought some new 33 inch carbon arrows. I was wodering if they are too long and I should cut them down. I havent shot w/ them yet, but I might just to see how they shoot. Does anyone shoot these long of arrows. I know that you should have them the length of your spec.( draw length...ect), but im not using release right now. They are only 2 inches longer than my other arrows i was shooting, but they were alum.

Re: arrows to long?

A couple things to consider:

1) The longer an arrow is, the softer its effective spine is. Depending on the poundage of your bow, they may currently be too soft and not fly consistently for you. Or if they are shortened, they may then be too stiff. This needs to be determined before arbitrarily cutting them shorter.

2) If you do cut them, be certain to use the proper tool. Carbon arrows should be cut with a high speed unit so that they don't splinter.
