beagleboy
I shoot a T/C Black Diamond. I used 100 grain of pellets, 250g shoskwave sabot and a Rem. primer. It's sighted in at 1in high at 100 yds. I plan to hunt a cut corn field tomorrow which is very vast. What would happen to the bullets trajectory if I increase the pyrodex pellets from 100 to 150 grains? I haven't had time to try this with the gun so I'm looking for someone who has or knows about it. WABS
Re: question?? I'm sorry but I wouldn't do that. I'd leave it as is and adjust my aim (shoot high) if the yardage calls for it. By increasing the amount of powder without testing it at the range could have a WIDE variety of effects. Not just trajectory but also could vastly change accuracy. LETMGROW
Re: question?? WABS is 100% correct. If you can't check zero on any load don't use it. You would be better off guessing holdover than testing totaly uncharted waters. My honest opinion would be, stay within the 100 yard range. We all as ethical hunters owe it to our prey to make clean shots. If at sometime you can sight in your gun for longer ranges OK. But for now stay within your comfort zone. AJ
Re: question?? [ QUOTE ] What would happen to the bullets trajectory if I increase the pyrodex pellets from 100 to 150 grains? [/ QUOTE ] It will change. How much? Who knows, until you test it on paper, you will not know or should not use it in the field. [ QUOTE ] I haven't had time to try this with the gun so I'm looking for someone who has or knows about it. [/ QUOTE ] Until you can try it at the range, stick with your present load. The additional 50% increase in powder will not turn your ML into a flat shooting ceterfire rifle. I also agree 100% with WABS in his recommendation. Listen to him, he knows his stuff. RangerClay
Re: question?? LEAVE IT ALONE!!! I shoot 80 grain out of my TC Renegade. If I increase it to 100 gr. then my pattern increases DRAMATICALLY. Ranger
johnf
Re: question?? I usually shoot 80gr out of my T/C scout with about a 3" pattern. I tried 90gr last night and my pattern was about 2" high and about a 4&1/2". I wouldn't change anything unless you had a lot of time to practice.
