AJ
I am not sure what you mean by on deck and in the hole. I suggest you load one in the chamber then close the bolt. Load 2 in the magazine tube and fire the 3 shots. They should all cycle normally. Are you floating the 2nd shot? As for a $500-$600 o/u, perhaps you an find a used Browning Citori in a shop or gun club for sale. I really can not suggest a new gun. If you can increase the budget slightly to $700-$800, the DeHaan or Huglu are a great bargain.

[/ QUOTE ] A rare opportunity to clarify something for AJ! I think he means that the one in the chamber fires fine, and the 2nd fires fine, but the third shell will not cycle. My buddy has the 390. His has cycled flawlessly every time I've been out with him, and that includes the light dove loads. I'd guess it needs to be cleaned pretty good, and maybe check the gas piston/O-rings. Take AJ's advice on the O/U's--He's the man.
Guest ftw46
Re: Beretta Problem....And O/U question.... That is a strange problem. I have one of the Wal-Mart 390's also and it has never missed a beat. I can think of a couple of common 390/391 problems and cures: Check to be sure the piston is not installed backwards. It is easy to do. Make sure the piston slides freely. The berettas really like a good cleaning.Blast out the action and recoil rod/spring area with gun Scrubber or Brake cleaner from the automotive store. Sometimes oil and cleaning solvent will run into the action and gum it up. Lastly look at the carrier, the little rail the shells ride on and see if it is bent so one side is lower than the other. Good Luck!
