Hunters Safety System Vest

Guy's and gals...I now am using one of these vests, and let me encourage you to spend the $100 for it!!!

Man, I tell you...after hearing of guy's hangin upside down and falling..this vest is a real must! I put a big Carribeaner(sp) clip on mine because I hunt real cold late season weather here, so I use my old safety belts and just clip my vest lanyard into that. That way I can be mobile and never have to stop to secure a strap on a tree..it's already out there, plus if you fall you have a system that will keep you upright, so you at least have a chance at getting yourself back onto your stand. It is not bulky , nor does it get in the way when you draw, a real user friendly peice of equipment. They send a dvd to watch so you know how to use it properly too. I give this two thumbs up!!

I found this link after I bought and used mine.

Check it out, some useful info.

Harness tests

here is a crazy coincidence, I tried the HSS versus the Summit at a Bowhunters Expo last year, and like the guy in the video clips, the HSS hurt like crazy,, but like him, I was wearing cotton shorts. I tried it again with some heavy hunting pants, and it wasn't to bad..

Re: Hunters Safety System Vest

I recently read that same test and found it interesting.

Personally, I can attest to the comfort of the Summit S.O.P. When I fell a few weeks ago, there was no discomfort at all.

I can't speak for the HSS vest. But in my opinion, any full body harness is 1000X better than no harness.

HSS has a slick product. If the convenience of the product gets people to actually use a harness, then who cares if there is some discomfort during a fall. It beats the alternative in a fall.

Re: Hunters Safety System Vest

Hey man, my S.O.P. was only $75 and there was a lot more I'd have loved to have used that $75 for than a harness. But I'll tell you this. When I fell out of that tree and the S.O.P. saved me from a broken arm, or life in a wheel chair, or 6 feet under, that $75 that I spent was nothing. I'd have spent $750,000 to save my tail.

Please wear a full body harness whether it is a free one that came with your stand, or a $75 S.O.P., or a $100 HSS. If not for yourself, do it for your kids or other loved ones.

No better way to put it,,,

Amen fellow hunters, amen. No matter what you choose, at least choose something! You owe it to your loved ones to wear one while in a tree!!

Lets just say, if you have a $10 head, you buy a $10 helmet! Save your money and get the mesh one. If you dont do it for yourself. THEN DO IT FOR YOUR FAMILY!!!

I too own and use the HSS vest. I hung in a tree for a few minutes. Not that bad as long as you wear a heavy hunting pant.

Re: Hunters Safety System Vest

I too saw the video and was somewhat discouraged about the performance of the HSS vest in it. But like someone said, the fall with heavy clothes on should help ease the pressure/pain from the retraints.

Any harness is better than none. I'm glad most of us saw that video and came to our own conclusions.

A harness is a MUST have tool for the hunter who climbs.

I mean do we really want to make our wives rich from our insurance payouts? I love my wife, but...

I'd rather collect on her and use that $ for my dream Alaska trip grin.gif Not her collect on me and spend all that in the mall and SOME for my Realtree casket! They have 'em...

Soo PUT THAT HARNESS ON! ANY HARNESS!

Happy Holidays!
