Guest Finn
My daughter wants an Ipod for Christmas...I know squat about them. She wants one the holds 7500 songs/1000 videos and I'm not sure it's worth the cost. Any recommendations or comments would be appreciated. Thanks. Tominator
Re: Need Ipod Info My wife has one, as do I. They're nice. I don't listen to mine nearly as much as my wife listens to hers. Personally, I don't see the need for the videos, but having all your songs available to you is nice. They're kind of expensive. Mine cost $200 I think. ParrotHead
Re: Need Ipod Info The 30GB's are running around 299.00 and the 60GB is running around 399.00 - course the 60 GB is the better deal - twice the capacity - holds around 15000 songs. They're nice, I have one of the smaller ones that only holds 1000 songs but hey, that's enough to hold all of Waylons and Hank Jr you'll ever need! Guest Finn
Re: Need Ipod Info Thanks. Is there any reason to buy one that holds 7500 songs? That seems like overkill.
Tominator
Re: Need Ipod Info With the younger folks, a lot of it is status symbol Finn. Personally, I don't see the need for 7,500 songs.

I don't see how, no matter how much a person likes music, someone could listen to 7,500 songs, let alone download that many. Heck, I couldn't even name 100 songs now! brownie65
Re: Need Ipod Info My son also wants one for Xmas. Anyway, like you I don't know a thing about them, So I started looking around & asking lots of questions. I still don't know anything about them,LOL. Anyway you can get them in the 250-300 dollar range. I ended up at Walmart & they had a red one with a screen that holds 2,720 songs. Now this is not a IPOD but it is just like them(as far as I know). I actually showed it to my boy & he said that he would be happy with one like that. I don't remember what it was called. Cost was $178 & it was on sale for $148. I thought that was a pretty good deal. I don't mind getting a IPOD that costs more but at the age he is, I would hate to see it get lost or better yet stolen. A friend of mine, his boy also wanted one, they went to Best Buy or Circuit City & the salespeople there sold him a Phillips thingamajig. They told him that it is more durable & would be better for a young kid. It cost $199. That is about all I know which isn't much. I agree that nobody needs 5,000 songs. They do want one with a screen though(some IPODS you can even play games on, don't know if you can do that on what I got)& one that plays a couple thousand songs is fine ,I think. I am sure there are some o fthe younger generation guys/gals in here that can tell us alot more about them.
PAhardwoods
Re: Need Ipod Info I know nothing about them but can you transfer songs that you already have on your computer or do you have to buy all the songs you put on your ipod? Guest DoubleDee
Re: Need Ipod Info I just bought the 30G Ipod for my daughter. I was informed that the Creative Zen has better sound quality. The main difference is where you get your songs from. For the Ipod you pull your songs from the ITunes, which is suppposed to have a greater variety of genres, where as with others you download from Napster or Kazaa. Other than that, as stated earlier, it is a status thing.
