Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Unethical laziness [ QUOTE ] Thing is, if you have your gun and bow all sighted in good and you make a shot on an animal, I always find it hard to believe I missed until I can prove it to myself. These kinds of people shouldn't be hunting. They're just target practiser's, not hunters. [/ QUOTE ] I totally agree. I've got enough confidence in my abilities that if I did miss a deer (haven't in 10 or 15 years) I'd frankly be in disbelief! OK - now that I've mouthed off, I'll probably go out and miss this weekend...
Guest Xen
Re: Unethical laziness [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I think the only true way to kill a buck is to grab a hold of his antlers and at the same time stab his jugular vein and then wrestle with him for 20 minutes. Not sure what type of man it would take to accomplish this feat, but they're out there I'm sure. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, and you don't have to worry about a blood trail that way either .....LOL I don't know what kind of nut would hunt that way either, besides a caveman ...do you [/ QUOTE ] i thought i read about some guy doing that with a black tail deer this year, i think the people in the white coats took him away. something about how anybody that would do that would HAVE to be insane

VtBowhunter
Re: Unethical laziness Let's stop this bowhunters VS gunhunters stuff now before it gets ugly. There is a very simple reason as to why it "appears" more gun shot deer are lost then bowshot. It's because the hunter has a hard time finding the spot the deer was standing from that farther range, whereas a bowhunter takes his shot at such a close range that he can more easily keep an eye on various landmarks close by to get on the trail. It's not a question of what type of hunter shoots better, it's question of tracking abilities after the shot.

muggs
Re: Unethical laziness once again, the whole 4-inch Buck knife to the jugular vein thing eliminates any need of tracking, following blood trails ect...
VtBowhunter
Re: Unethical laziness See, muggs, you prove my point.......the closer you are to the deer the less likely you'll be to lose it.

Guest TheNumber1Young1
Re: Unethical laziness That really ticks me off man, i mean i spent over 4 hrs looking for my deer last year, Found him 600yds from where i shot him, i just wish people would put in the time and effort like that, i mean sometimes we wouldnt find blood for 50 yrds, do u know how hard that was?But it was worth it in the end bc now hes hanging on my wall, and he won 1st place at the virginia sportsman show. shockwave
Re: Unethical laziness you have to remember, people like that are always gonna be around. Luckily there are guys like all who posted who make the extra effort to track down everything they shoot at, or at least follow up whether it`s a hit or a miss.. LETMGROW
Re: Unethical laziness Just how does a deer or any other animal act when it has been shot? I have shot many and only on a couple occasions did they drop in their tracks! Some did'nt go far but a lazy hunter would have assumed he or she missed. I helped recover a deer which was shot squarley in the heart and ran well over a hundred yards before collapsing. His blood trail didn't start until about ten yards from where he laid. This can be difficult in heavy cover but it is our responsibility to give recovery our best effort. Animals are tough! Their main purpose is survival. We owe it to our prey to Look until we find them or are sure beyond a doubt we did in fact miss the shot.
