here is a pic of the spike i took and the hunt area i was in. my buck was standind behind the big tree in back of the area where the other deer is standind in the 2nd pic

this was the first morning of the hunt and i was hunting an area that was so thick that it was really hard to see the deer. Just to show how thick it was im posting a pic of the area and i never noticed this deer(that was only 10 yards from me) when i took the pic...i just wonder how many more came in that i never saw.... the deer i took was the 5th deer that i saw and at 10:30 in the morning i took him...(thought it was a doe)...it was a spike with 7 inck spike's and is normally illegal to take in mississippi but the dnr and the corps of engeneers have special tags to take care of mistake deer..my buck weighed in at 135 enjoy...as soon as i get my photo cd from the hunt i'll post more pic's sorry the pic's turned out so big ...if any of the mods can resize it please do...

that is some thick stuff. I use to make fun of people who hunted the thickest areas, but the more I hunt, the more I tend to go to the thick stuff. Just the type of area the deer hang out at

Re: my mississippi buck pic

Congrats!!!! So, you were trying to take a doe and ended up with a buck. Not a bad deal!!!!

Also, that's a big spike. 135 pounds, is this the type of deer that will not grow good antlers? I know some people think that some spikes always remain spikes. Does anyone think that this deer is like that, due to the size of it? Or is the "some spikes will never get bigger than a spike" theory a bunch of hogwash? I was talking with my buddy last week about this and wonder how you guys/girls think about this?

Congrats agin on the deer!!!!
