oo_buck
What is probably the least expensive species to hunt? Just to clarify, I live in Indiana, and about our only big game is whitetail deer. I love deer hunting, but would like a guided hunt for something not native to Indiana, that won't break the bank......
whitetailtrax
Re: Big Game Hunting..... With plenty of research and planning, you can do a non-guided hunt in the western states for mule deer and elk and probably be successful. Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho have plenty of public land. You will save thousands doing it yourself, but obviously the outfitters provide you a better chance of shooting an animal, especially a trophy caliber animal. Just depends on what kind of experience you want. Guided hunts are just plain expensive no matter what species or where you go. Personally I can't afford a guide for any hunt...fortunately I live in Montana where we have everything.
fisherguy
Re: Big Game Hunting..... There are some great deals on black bear hunts too. You need to do research carefully, but for under $2000(including travel) you can likely do a guided hunt in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, or some of the northeastern states. Guest Colorado Bob
Re: Big Game Hunting..... Antelope in WY---hands down. Plus it's a TON of fun. Lots of antelope, lots of public land, you can drive there. The hunting is usually spot & stalk---if you blow it--not to worry there are more just around the bend. If you want more infor----ask away. I know that the applications come out @ 1/1---and you have to apply by 3/31---I think for antelope. This is a DIY hunt-----no need for an outfitter. I'm just guessing but I think you could do it for under $1000 easy----that includes tags, gas, food etc.
Norm Sauceman
Re: Big Game Hunting..... Speed goats for sure! I would caution to save money for something you really want to do and not something that is the cheapest.
