What do you eat on the ice?

Hi!

My friends and I are planning an ice fishing extravaganza weekend on Lake Champlain in January. We are going to try to do a shore lunch on the ice. This will be a first time cooking on the ice. We usually have just sandwiches and jerky so we are going into new territory.

Do you have any recipes for doing a shore lunch on the ice or just a shore lunch in general? Fire away!!!! Any suggestions will be helpful!!

I know this borders on a Chuckwagon topic but not all ice fishermen hang out there. So please forgive for bringing this topic here.

Thanks

Ranger

Re: What do you eat on the ice?

Hmmmm this is a tough one, seeing how my fish shack is only about 1/4 mile, 20 second 80mph dash on the snowmobile to my grandma's house where there's some mighty good cookin' goin on! grin.gifgrin.gifcool.gif When I was younger I use to take a grill to put over the woodstove in the fish shack. I'd make toast on it, and sometimes I'd bring a frying pan with a bit of oil and cook french fries for lunch! grin.gif The steam would be just-a pourin' out the shack... tongue.gifgrin.gif

That doesn't help you much though. If I was going to have a shore lunch like you are, I'd bring some hotdogs, chips, cheese, that sorta stuff! wink.gif
