fisherguy
I know a lot of people who have them and like them as a good reliable gun. Mine was a dud and nothing but trouble.
JimT
Re: pump action rifles Mine has been flawless. Shoots and feels very good. I plan on buying a couple more over the next few years.
AJ
Re: pump action rifles I like them. That was my first gun back in 1977. I have not played with the late model 7600 guns but from the ones I have seen at the range, they are still a good choice.
maytom
Re: pump action rifles Funny you asked this question. I was Gander Mtn. the other day and held that very gun in my hands. Didn't like the way it felt, shouldered, or the very skinny barrel and those rifled sights that come stock look cheap. But, that is my feelings on the gun. It may fit you better. Shaun_300
Re: pump action rifles I like them quite a bit, and I'd like to own one someday. A lot of my relatives use this gun for deer and moose hunting. I haven't heard one of them say anything bad about them!

Guest lilcrackshot
Re: pump action rifles Out of all the rifles I have shot I like them the best. Love the pump-action. Very accurate. They are one of the best kept secrets of the gun world. People don't give them alot of recognition but I would put mine up against about any bolt-gun for accuracy. They are extremely reliable. I have had no failures through snow, rain, and about everything else Kansas has dished out. Great gun and I wouldn't trade mine for the world. Guest Colorado Bob
Re: pump action rifles I'll pass on them pump action rifles. Make mine a bolt action with an adjustable trigger, free float the barrel, plus that SOLID feel. Pump actions are for shotguns IMO.
bwlacy
Re: pump action rifles I have a old 760 that I picked up used. It is very accurate and reliable. It's a 30-06 with the longer barrel not the 18 inch carbine. I haven't had any problems with it, and I hunt some nasty weather also. By the way the barrells on pump guns are free floated, there is nothing to touch the barrell. You can also get a trigger job done. Then you can put it against any bolt out there. The best group I've shot at 100 yards measured around 5/8 and that is with factory ammo.
LETMGROW
Re: pump action rifles bwlacy is awake and well! Why all the fuss about free float etc. when you can buy a gun as good as the 7600 to start with? My .06 carbine attracts deer, carrys best of all the guns I own and has never failed me yet. Everybody has a favorite but mine will always be my 7600!
iron buck
Re: pump action rifles I LOVE my 7600/ 35 Whelen. It is an accurate, killing machine. I have killed a pile of whitetails with it & 2 black bears. All one shot kills. It is as accurate as a bolt action rifle & points really well. All my shots with this rifle have been quick, off hand shots. From 30 to 120 yards. And all have been one shot kills. Can't ask for more than that. I am getting a rifle for one of my workers as a Christmas bonus this week. I asked him what he wanted......he said after seeing mine in action this year (I shot a doe off hand at 120 yards with him standing beside me, dropped her clean) that he wanted a 7600. So he is getting it in 06, with a 2-7 Leupold VX-II scope. I highly reccomend the 7600s. They point really well, are nicely balanced & are accurate. If you need to get off more than one shot quickly & accurately there is NOTHING better in the woods. For bear or deer drives they are by far the best choice of all current actions. Read about the Benoits. These guys are from Vermont & hunt the North East. They are not stand hunters, but trackers. They take some HUGE bucks. And their weapon of choice for decades was & is the Remington 760/ 7600s. I own many rifles. Lots of superbly accurate bolt actions. For out west I prefer bolts. But here in the east where shots must be taken quickly & accurately or the guy hunting 150 yards from you gets the deer, or the deer is out of site & never gives you another shot due to cover.......I grab my 7600 every season. Besides, those big fat 250 grain whelen roundnose bullets just bowl the deer over!
oo_buck
Re: pump action rifles Don't know anything about the Remingtons. I will say this though.... I have a Rossi .22 pump, that I shoot squirells and pop cans with.... Loads of fun..... Everyone I show it to, laughs, makes fun of it, and when I go to put it away it's always..."hey, let me shoot it before you put it away".......
