Under $1000, best scope????

I have been wondering what I should do for a scope on my 7mm Ultra mag, 26in barrel, muzzle brake. I had a VX III 4.5-14 with the boone and crocket reticle but ended up putting that on my 22-250. I was thinking of a scope with something like 6.5-24 power with some type of range finding. Mil-dot, or something similar to the boone and crocket reticle. Any suggestions would be great. Burris, Shepherd, Leupold or other higher end optics.

You can get yourself a real nice khales with the multi-zero reticle for right around a grand.

I was going to say the same thing. You can get a Kahles 4-12x52 for right at 1000$ or since you want alot of zoom, you can get a Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20x50 for 849$ from Bear Basin. I've bought scopes from them before. Very nice customer service their authorized dealers of most of these scope makers & they'll have it at your house as fast as you want it.

I would still say the Leupold. They may be pricey but you know they are not going to fail you.

Hey crack I know its probably hard for a lot of people to believe. I didn't believe it either until I hunted with one. But trust me a Zeiss, Kahles or a Swarovski scope are superrior to a Leupold. I have a Vari XIII with a 50mm lense & I've hunted with a Zeiss & Kahles. If you got the money to spend, buy a Kahles or a Zeiss if you hunt very late. Nothing is "wrong" with Leupold scopes but they simply aren't in the same class as the high end European scopes.
