double_drop
Just curious if anyone else has one besides me. I have a .243. Love the gun super accurate even with the shorter barrel and nice and light for the long walks for yotes and fox.
Guest Colorado Bob
Re: remington model 788 I wish they still made them. I'd love to have a LH in 308.
double_drop
Re: remington model 788 i heard they quit making them because they were more accurate than the 700's and they were cheaper.

AJ
Re: remington model 788 The 788 was a great gun. It is still a great platform to build a very accurate gun from. The rear locking lug action is not the most desirable, but the small ejection port makes the action super rigid. The detachable magazine is a bit unsightly but the gun does shoot well. double_drop
Re: remington model 788 If i could i would love to find one in a .300 or .308 caliber so when i head out west i have a nice compact rifle for elk. Plan on using to .243 right now which is the smallest you can use for them in colorado but would like one a little bigger.

David_218
Re: remington model 788 I use to have a Remington M-788 in .30-30 Winchester. Great Gun, and I wish I never traded it in! I remember when they came out with this model back in 1968; it sold for under $100!!!! I paid $250, in 1990, for my .30-30!!!!
double_drop
Re: remington model 788 i paid for my .243 from a buddy who used it just to shoot ground hogs in his hay field. He had shot it a total of 37 times since he had bought it new. It came with the scope and 3 boxes of shells all for 250 bucks couldn't say no. double_drop
Re: remington model 788 Letmgrow no deal. Don't plan on selling this guy, will probably have it the rest of my life. haven't ever sold a single gun I have bought. Don't like the idea of trading in guns i just keep them all and buy more.
