rackmaster
I have a nice red fox that i would like to get mounted but don't really want to spend 400 dollars to get it done. i have done some taxidermy before, such as european deer mounts and turkey tails. i was wondering how hard of a project would be. any incite would be appreciated. thanks
fisherguy
Re: fox mounting degree of difficulty I would thing mounting a fox would be a big leap in difficulty and required skill level from turkey tails and european mounts. RTF
Re: fox mounting degree of difficulty $400 is cheap and I would seriuosly not do it if you have no expierence in mammal mounting. The mouth area will give you trouble, not to mention form fitting. All forms must be altered to fit hide.
IowaDeerHunter
Re: fox mounting degree of difficulty It will be very tough, I would imagine, jumping from Eauropean skulls and turkey tails to a full fox mount. I would suggest maybe a Whitetail doe. my brother and I did one for the very first ever taxidermy thing we have ever done. For us it was a great deal of fun, and not to hard. RTF
Re: fox mounting degree of difficulty Try working on squirrels first, then rabbits before attempting anything.
rackmaster
Re: fox mounting degree of difficulty thanks for the advice. I think that I will just go ahead and have my taxidermist do it.
