Re: Who Bowhunts In The snow?

if i was hunting in snow i would be in a blind and either one made up from the surrounding trees ie: cedar and lay downs and brush or small cedars i would use to make my blind smell like pines and that way my scent is covered well. also if i use like a matrix or one like the matrix an ameristep i would have it brushed in or set in a clump of cedars and watching travel corridors to and from the bedding areas and might even be in the food plots as they will put on the feed bag with the cold weather coming in

Re: Who Bowhunts In The snow?

I love to hunt the snow. But the past couple years I haven't had much of a chance. I want to kill a deer with my bow in the snow and check out the blood trail. My uncle killed one once and the spray is pretty amazing. You can see every drop on fresh snow, without the snow you're only seeing about half of that if you're lucky.

Also in the snow I see alot more wildlife. Birds and small mammals are foraging for something eat, it make for an enjoyable afternoon in the stand.

Re: Who Bowhunts In The snow?

NRA, I hunt the late season in PA with my bow every year that I haven't filled my tags. I don't mind it one bit. Taking something warm to drink helps, as does a few handwarmers. Especially when it gets into the single digit mornings!

A few years ago I had both tags left, doe and buck, and was doing the "if its brown its down" thing. I saw a deer coming in to a field on Jan. 10th, 2001. It was my first buck with a bow! A nice 8 pointer... so even though things may be slowed down a bit, it can still happen after Christmas!
