Tominator
Re: Squirrel Contest Results LOL, no big deal. Dove season comes in when squirrel does around here, and to me, dove is much tastier, and a lot more fun to hunt, but that's just me. I will take the odd bowshot at one while I'm bowhunting deer (especially if they're driving me crazy). There's a dude at work that likes them, so I clean them up for him. ladydiehard
Re: Squirrel Contest Results With deer season now over, I plan to take a few bushytails...team or no team! M00N
Re: Squirrel Contest Results Saw two squirrels running infront of me on the ground the one day I went out hunting. Tried to stalk up and get a shot at them before they escaped into the no hunting zone. They were young grey squirrels playing chasing each other around and rolling on the ground together. Sat for awhile waiting to see if they'd come back to have one tree near me in it's den hole and start yelling. Waited for hours for it to come out and give me a shot. Tried a few calls to lure him, but it was a no go. So, I moved away from the tree a bit more thinking he'd get curious come investigate where I went. Used a few more calls and finally saw him start to crawl out and down the tree to see him shot by another hunter that had snuck in on me through the thick brush. Didn't see his hunter orange on him at all until the guy had already shot the squirrel due to the brush blocking my view. Talk about annoying. The guy just looked at me with my squirrel call in my hand and smiled at me then picked up the dead squirrel and walked off. Going to try to get out some more before Feb 4 when the season closes for the year. The hunting truck though is out of commission, so I don't get the option to go upstate in a better area to hunt them and have to stick to hunting city squirrels at a small state game lands near me. As I said before, I don't hunt them too much anymore because I don't care for the taste, but I've got a buddy at work that likes them, so I'm in if the other teams say OK. Ohio allows reds, grays, and fox. I mostly see fox. Our season runs through the end of this month I believe, I'll have to check to make sure. I'll be using my bow or .22 This OK with y'all? Tominator
Re: Squirrel Contest Results I'll update the standings around the end of the month. Doesn't make too much sense right now, as there's only 2 or 3 teams even on the board right now.
Guest fourtrax_300
Re: Squirrel Contest Results well i went hunting today and kiiled one but his tail isnt long enough to add to our score any but i found something neat ! i was practicing blowing my goose call and i saw 3 squirrels take off and i killed one. then i tried it on the way home and scarede another squirrel from other side of the tree he was on but he was too fast for the old 20ga ! didnt know my tim grounds goose cal could be used as a squirrel call too,lol
M00N
Re: Squirrel Contest Results Welp I gave it my best to try to bag some late season squirrels. Around here it is just too hard to get them during the winter months. Can't say I didn't try though. My season ends Feb 4. I won't have time to get out again before it ends. Went out 5 times for squirrels. Saw 3, 2 of which were in the no hunting zone and illegal to shoot and 1 was shot out from under me by another hunter who didn't see me and I didn't see him due to he was sitting in thick brush and he had bare minimum orange on. Tominator
Re: Squirrel Contest Discussion Update on the prizes for the winners! Along with the prestige of being the best squirrel killers on the forum, , Scott has committed to a prize for the winning team. I don't know what they are yet, but I suggested hat, T-shirt, or DVD of some sort. More to follow.
Turkeygirl
Re: Squirrel Contest Discussion Well there is alot of snow on the ground but the sun is out so I think I'm going to take a walk in the woods today and see if I can bag 1 or even 3 more squirrels for Team 5. It's getting close to the end...
