LETMGROW
Does any one else unscrew the breech plug to remove powder charges and bullets? Does anyone feel this is dangerous?
beagleboy
Re: Unloading Muzzleloaders?? Without an ignition, the powder will not go off. I usually put a screw tip on the end of the ramrod, screw into the sabot and put out the sabot. The pellets fall out behind.
Born2Hunt
Re: Unloading Muzzleloaders?? It's easier when you clean my ML for me. It's a lot less dangerous for me. LOL
AJ
Re: Unloading Muzzleloaders?? That's usually what I do. I don't see where its any more dangerous than loading the gun. The only drawback is all the powder inside the action that has to be cleaned out. That can be a pain. Pellets just pop out.
LETMGROW
Re: Unloading Muzzleloaders?? I probably should have mentioned I did have pellets, not loose powder. My only concern was a possible spark from unscrewing the breech plug. Not likely though, as I use an ample amount of Gorilla grease. Sure makes cleaning easier, especially when your shiftless kid won't do it!!!!! LOL please!! [Got ya]
Born2Hunt
Re: Unloading Muzzleloaders?? I was busy and you did it on your own. Who am i to complain?
too_pointer
Re: Unloading Muzzleloaders?? If I don't fire my Encore, that is all I ever do. Pop out the breach plug and let the pellets and bullet slide out. Sure better than shooting them unless you don't mind the extra cleaning LOL too_
rockefeller66
Re: Unloading Muzzleloaders?? We just did that tonight, didn't bother the pellets or bullet, heck kept them and probably shoot them again sometime.
wtnhunt
Re: Unloading Muzzleloaders?? I usually unscrew the breech plug from my black diamond to unload the gun. Either that or I shoot the load out of it. You can use a paper cup under the breech end of the barrel with it slightly tilted to catch your loose powder. oo_buck
Re: Unloading Muzzleloaders?? I usually just shoot mine to empty it the last day of season.......Kind of a fitting close to the ML season....My salute to the deer that evaded me.... Randyman
Re: Unloading Muzzleloaders?? Count me among those that just unscrew the breech plug and unload the easy way. Don't want to clean a stinky muzzleloader if i don't have to!
