bigbucks Posted December 17, 2005 Report Share Posted December 17, 2005 i might have a chance to go elk hunting next year and im thinking of getting a new bow..one becasue i think it would take little more power for differnt things or am I wrong would 50lbs take down a full size elk? Every bow can be set up to kill elk. But you have to set it up for that. Heavey arrow is a must. I shoot alumminums but if you get weight inserts for carbons there fine. You want a min of 10granes per inch. Forget mecanical heads, Go with thunderheads,Magnus,or muzzys Also Don't try and hug the shoulder on a elk. You hit the shoulder Its not going to get the job done. Shoot back a bit in the ribs and don't take a front or quartering two shot. To much bone up front. If you want more info Pm Me.
