Whats everyones view on the Omega 50 cal. I really like the realtree/stainless gun. Should I get the regular stock or the one with the thumbhole? Anyother views or personal experiences is appreciated. In PA you can only use inlines during a doe only early season, but i will be hunting alot more in MD next year and this gun can be used alot more down there. Thanks for any help on this gun

Re: Opinions please on TC Omega

Hoyt03, I have the Encore but have held the Omega several times and if I were to get one I would prefer the thumbhole stock.

Additionally, in Pa. you can use an inline muzzeloader in any of the firearms seasons , just not the late traditional muzzeloader season. I use mine in S.E. Pa during the gun season inlieu of my shotgun since centerfire rifles are not allowed. My Encore groups better at 100 & 200 yds then my rifles. Go figure. Good luck with the Omega, If you do some research and have a few extra bucks you may find some with some real good looking laminated woods.

hoyt, most bigger firearms sellers have a good supply of omega's to look at. Try them out and see what fits you the best. I tried a couple, and ended buying the Encore. I'm glad I did cause I'm starting to buy extra rifle barrels for it, which the Omega does not offer. The Omega is a fine muzzleloader though and many in here own them.

Re: Opinions please on TC Omega

I have both the encore and the Omega thumbhole laminated. I love them both. I typically hunt with the Omega at the moment. Personally I think it is one of the finest pure inlines out there. Shoot 1" groups at 100 all day long. I highly recommend it.

Re: Opinions please on TC Omega

I too had the Omega and bought an Encore this year to take advantage of interchangable barrels. If you are all set with rifles and shotguns I would go with the Omega, but if you ever plan to buy another rifle or shotgun I would buy the Encore. They are just as accurate in 50 Cal. I have added the .270 and turkey barrel to my Encore and both shoot wonderfully. My Omega had the thumb hole and my Encore does not. It's just personal preference, no real advantage either way IMO.
