Re: Are you getting an e-mail from ebay?

Thank you everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Boy! It sure seemed legit! The email had all the appropriate ebay fonts and colors. Told me to click on the link. When I clicked on the link I had to enter my ebay username & password JUST LIKE ebay. I did not give them any credit card info however I had to use my username & password to get to their link. Do the phishermen now have that information?

As you see this is a scam.

There are other scams which are related to this one also which appear to be from banks or credit card companies.

When you get suspicious emails as smallmunster stated, DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK PROVIDED. If you feel that you have to check it, type the address you know into your browser and go to the site directly. Look there for any messages or postings of updated information needed.

I am a database administrator and I will never delete anyones record for any reason even if they die. Companies will suspend accounts as this email suggested, but usuaully it is after a year of inactivity and usually only if it is a company providing you with a service that you are no longer using, I.e. - a film processing website. And even if a company does suspend your account, all of your info is still stored in their database waitng for you to return. Disc space is cheap compared to the value of your demographics.

Just use common sense, slow down and think about what you are doing too. Emails sent asking for information can wait, just like a reply to 'snail mail'. So if you have a question - ask your friends, ask on a forum, just take some time and ask someone else to be sure. You do have time.

If we send something out in an email asking for information, we plan ahead and do not expect all of our responses back for at least a month.

Just because it is on the internet or in your email does not make it true, eveywhere but REALTREE, LOL.
