RangerClay
I got an e-mail from ebay stating that they are going to suspend my account if I do not give them a debit or credit card number "in order to confirm my identity". Has anyone else got this e-mail? Ranger
Tominator
Re: Are you getting an e-mail from ebay? I got something from ebay the other day, but I knew I didn't have any dealing with ebay at all, so I deleted it without opening.
huntn4bucks
Re: Are you getting an e-mail from ebay? DON'T DO IT!!! I haven't gotten the email but a buddy of mine got one that was allegedly from PayPal. He viewed the properties of the hyperlink and the URL went to some location other than PayPal. Of course he didn't supply his information.
smallmunster
Re: Are you getting an e-mail from ebay? This is called phishing, someone is trying to steal your information. Forward it to [email protected] and delete it. Don't ever use personal info through an email link.
RangerClay
Re: Are you getting an e-mail from ebay? Thank you everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Boy! It sure seemed legit! The email had all the appropriate ebay fonts and colors. Told me to click on the link. When I clicked on the link I had to enter my ebay username & password JUST LIKE ebay. I did not give them any credit card info however I had to use my username & password to get to their link. Do the phishermen now have that information? smallmunster
Re: Are you getting an e-mail from ebay? Most likely if you have signed into ebay using their link they have stolen your username and password. Go to ebay account theft page and follow the directions. Guest finsnfur
Re: Are you getting an e-mail from ebay? As you see this is a scam. There are other scams which are related to this one also which appear to be from banks or credit card companies. When you get suspicious emails as smallmunster stated, DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK PROVIDED. If you feel that you have to check it, type the address you know into your browser and go to the site directly. Look there for any messages or postings of updated information needed. I am a database administrator and I will never delete anyones record for any reason even if they die. Companies will suspend accounts as this email suggested, but usuaully it is after a year of inactivity and usually only if it is a company providing you with a service that you are no longer using, I.e. - a film processing website. And even if a company does suspend your account, all of your info is still stored in their database waitng for you to return. Disc space is cheap compared to the value of your demographics. Just use common sense, slow down and think about what you are doing too. Emails sent asking for information can wait, just like a reply to 'snail mail'. So if you have a question - ask your friends, ask on a forum, just take some time and ask someone else to be sure. You do have time. If we send something out in an email asking for information, we plan ahead and do not expect all of our responses back for at least a month. Just because it is on the internet or in your email does not make it true, eveywhere but REALTREE, LOL.

fisherguy
Re: Are you getting an e-mail from ebay? i have been getting it for months...considering i have never bought or sold anything on ebay it was clearly a scam and i delete it. tedicast
Re: Are you getting an e-mail from ebay? I have gotten so many of these from "ebay", and "paypal" lately that I just delete them. If ebay sends you an email, there will be a copy of it in your messages on your "My Ebay" page. That is one way to see if an email is really from Ebay.
