snapper
I think the biggest prob. most folks make is...they try "blowing" the call. Instead...try pushing the air from your "diaphram" and it really doesn't take alot to make most calls work. Start out with a double reed...as you get more comfortable with it in your mouth...gradually start to drop your jaw as you call. Don't be afraid to cut the tape (alittle at a time) if it doesn't fit well in the roof of your mouth. I wouldn't try to bend or adjust the tightness of the reed until you get better with it. Guest Colorado Bob
Re: Learning Diaphram Calling Quaker Boy has one plus you get a beginners double reed call. Good tape. I also recommend that you get a beginners double or a pro triple. Both are Quaker Boy. They are a smooth call-----meaning the reed isn't split for a raspy sound. Clear calls are easier IMO. If you can't find the video---I can see if I can dig mine out & you could use it.
Lumpy
Re: Learning Diaphram Calling Great advice so far. Like mentioned before the two reeded call will be the easiest to blow. Their are instructional tapes and CD's out their that will help you, but the best thing you can do is find a verteran caller and learn from him. And pratice, pratice, pratice!! Hope this helps. VTbowman
Re: Learning Diaphram Calling I 2nd the Primos CD. Play it in your truck/car on your commute and pratice there. Plus it comes with a few diaphram calls. It explains how to fit it in your mouth and how to make sounds even before teaching different calls. Jaw movement is critical for yelping along with pushing air between your tounge tip and call. JMO
