ZooBear
Re: coyotes Coyotes will trail humans this time of year looking for gut piles. When we are driving deer Ive seen them many times following the drivers. Ive never heard them bothering anyone though.
Squirrelhunter91
Re: coyotes I've never heard of a coyote following human scent.. personally, I'd head out there and unload on em! When we are driving deer, I've seen them come out with the deer, but not following us!

wtnhunt
Re: coyotes They do run and hunt in packs around here. Had a close call with three of them I will never forget one afternoon on a bow hunt a couple years back. Had some deer in the woods blowing off in the woods a couple hundred yards away. As I got down from my climber and was about to untie my bow I heard a growl. Turned and look and three coyotes were about 15 yards from me. I yelled at them get out of here, and they came closer. I raised my arms, took my flashlight out and started yelling get out of here as loud as I could while kind of lunging towards them, and they took off. That was probably the quickest trip across my field through the woods back to the house I have ever made.

Rayzorp
Re: coyotes First time I heard there were roaming in-laws land,, I decided since I can't carry a pistol, perhaps something just as loud, so I packed a couple of packs of firecrackers. As luck would have it, late bow season, headed back to my bike, I hear a snap, turn around, 4 of them about 20 yards behind me. You can't help but being scared, but I remembered my surprise,, lit up a few, had them go off in mid air, man did them yotes run!!! I even stayed around and checked the grass, made sure no sparks hit the ground..
QDMAworks4me
Re: coyotes They can be very scary at times. I was bow hunting about a mile back in the woods and I waited until it was dark out to get out of my stand. Just about the time I was getting ready to get out of my stand the local fire whistle went off, and as some of you know the fire whistle also gets coyotes to start howling. It started to the right of me, then to the left, then behind me and then well you get the point!!! It was not long before I was back to the truck because I did not think my bow and arrow was going to do much to a group of coyotes.

Guest Turkeystalker
Re: coyotes I was deer hunting on december 31 and scouting for turkeys with my father in law. I was bow hunting and he brought his 44 mag. He also brought a disstress call that sometimes will bring in does. Well we got set up and blew the call and not 30 sec. afterwards here come a big ole coyote. Man they are the toughest animals i have ever seen. Five shots from a .44 with hydo-shock rounds and still ran a good 50 yards, last round ended it all. I shot one with my 50 cal. omega two weeks before that and dropped it like a bad habit, but as I was reloading the yote got up and ran.... With a big ole hole through the lungs. both of these incidents were 25 yard shots.
