Anyone get out for some christmas steelhead??

When I woke up at 10 AM I looked outside and saw over cast skies and my first thought was steelie fishing. Not the presents under the tree or all the good food I was going to eat. I went down stairs and did the usual. After that I kept looking outside and was wanting to go. Usually I wouldn't ask, I would just go, but being christmas I didn't want to be rude. My mom knew and told me to get out, but be home at 2:30. I was out the door in a flash and on the river at 1:15.

Of coarse when I pulled into the parking lot the rain started. I put on a white spawn bag and made a cast. This hole usually does not produce but with all the reading I have been doing I figured I was fishing it wrong. I decide to let it sweep around and up against the other side of the current. I knew there were alot of snags around. My bobber slowing went under, like it was snagged on something. So I gave it a little jerk and knew I was going to regret it. Sure enough there was a steelie on the end and it came up head shaking and threw the hook back and me...figures. Had 2 other bobber downs that I was sure was fish but missed them both. They were takin small bags in chartruse and white.

Thought I was going to get it when I walked in 10 minutes late but thank god the pistons distracted them:)

Anyone else get out?? Hopefully you all had a very nice christmas!

Wasn't able to get out over the Holiday, but I got into the office at 6am today, so I can get out early and hit the rivers.

They were frozen over, but we've had a week or so of 40+ temps here in Ohio, and all the streams have opened up. Should be a good day.

Are you fishing in Michigan?

I live in Northeast Ohio, and live about 1/2 a mile from the Chagrin River, so I fish that as much as I can. I also fish the Grand and Rocky rivers a lot.

I went out yesterday and the river was a little high and stained, but I did have my first hook-up ever with a fly rod, I didn't land the fish, but it was still a fun fight.
