c_lou
I needed to get my tree stand seats and it was beautiful outside so on Christmas Eve I headed out with camera in hand to get the. Stand 1 Straight out from the tree stand. See the 'X' made of sticks? That's approximatly where the deer I shot this year was standing. I paced it off 10 yards from the base of my tree. [image][/image] Picture to the south of my stand. This is where the deer came from. [image][/image] Picture from the backside of my tree. This is where the majority of the deer I see come from. [image][/image] Pic to the north. I have yet to see deer come from this way, but it always looks so good. [image][/image] Picture of my stand from behind. On the trail that is in 2 pics above. continuted...
buckee
Re: Went for a little walk on Christmas Eve... Pretty awesome looking area Lou. I wish our woods was that open, so you could see that far away at any given time. Your lucky if you can see 25 yrds or 30 yrds in this west-coast rain-forest. Nothing like a good hardwood forest eh. c_lou
Re: Went for a little walk on Christmas Eve... On the trail to Stand #2. Can you see the trail? [image][/image] Somebody has been here dropping a duece. [image][/image] Approaching the Stand. Can you find it? Hint it's in the upper right hand corner area. [image][/image] Two years ago my first buck ever made the mistake of walking through this shooting lane. He walked right in front of the tree in the middle. [image][/image] A view of the south side shooting lane. [image][/image] A view to the soybean field. This is where the doe busted me this year. Not much cover between the stand and the field. I need to change that in the spring. [image][/image] And Finally a view coming out of the woods of the CRP field. [image][/image]

buckee
Re: Went for a little walk on Christmas Eve... Yeah, I know what you mean. I love it when the leaves are off the trees too. It sure does enhance the view
rockefeller66
Re: Went for a little walk on Christmas Eve... cool pics, I know our timber seems thick in the fall but get a few inches of snow on there and you can see forever, you start to wonder where the deer bed up, we got some cedar thickets they tend to move to though!
