Hmm, maybe he didn't have his latex gloves along, and didn't want to go at it bare handed..... BTW: The gloves are fine, still wearing them this year....... Left the rubber gloves at home, had some cuts on my hands...... worked with what I had available....... The gloves are a little discolored, but totally fine....after washing them..... mossyhorn
Re: Gutting a deer with leather gloves on????? I have never used gloves. But I did use the shirt off my back once. On the first deer I had to gut myself. Now I just go in bare hand.
BowJoe
Re: Gutting a deer with leather gloves on????? I always pack latex gloves for me and my friends since I work at a hospital. I have gutted deer in the freezing cold before and believe me, it's worth the effort to save your hands from freezing. Litterally.

oo_buck
Re: Gutting a deer with leather gloves on????? Well, I guess I ain't a true deer hunter then...... On the bright side, the deer I've killed and gutted didn't know I wasn't a REAL deer hunter......
Guest ConchoMan
Re: Gutting a deer with leather gloves on????? Hey I use those blue nitride gloves when I work on cars but that is only because something they put in the oil and expecially the transmission fluid causes my hands to blister. But I would use them on deer just because its easier to wash up later. It just seems like persional prefernce to me.
rockefeller66
Re: Gutting a deer with leather gloves on????? It would ruin the gloves I think, we use them dollar packs of gutting gloves you can get at Wal-Mart, have laytex gloves, rubber bands, and gloves that go to your elbow. superguide
Re: Gutting a deer with leather gloves on????? I usually use a pair of shoulder length OB gloves just to keep blood off my sleeves and hands.
TexasDeerHunter
Re: Gutting a deer with leather gloves on????? I used to gut deer all natural, but have become older and wiser. I use the blue nitrile gloves and sometimes the shoulder length palpating gloves. Keep both in my pack along with some sanitary wipes. Nothing wrong with keeping clean, I can have a deer gutted in three minutes and not have any blood on my hands.
BowJoe
Re: Gutting a deer with leather gloves on????? I like using the gloves no matter the season. In the early fall mesquitos attack blood soaked hands and in the later season the blood freezes on your hands like dipping them in cold water. Some people just have a warped sense of what a real deer hunter is. Now if you had said that I wasn't a real deer gutter then I am inclined to see your point more. Since it is a dead deer that I hunted and killed then I think that makes me a deer hunter no matter what I do after the deer is dead. Make sure you have a good connection between your fingers and your brain. LOL
