James7xChamp3
Re: OSU v. Notre Dame Thanks for the update BF! Wow, I was way off in my prediction. What a great game by the Buckeyes! They are fun to watch. Troy Smith surprised me with his poise. Definitely the player of the game in my book. Charlie has got lots more work to do! Tony
Re: OSU v. Notre Dame yea baby how about them Buckeyes .. i was sweating the whole game . even though we dominated it in passing and running and defense. but it seems that when OSU has the chance to put teams away they let them hang around and have hope. i was going crazy when Pittman was running for a TD.. game ball baby... Tominator
Re: OSU v. Notre Dame Say what you want, but I think ol' Jimmy Tressel out-coached ol' Chucky Waist, err Chucky What'shisname. Ohio State made it interesting towards the end, like they always do, but thankfully Pittman busted the long one. Anyone else scratch their head about ND's last possession? They got the ball back with 1:46 to go I think? And basically gave up? I didn't understand that, it looked like they gave up to me.
muggs
Re: OSU v. Notre Dame Chris I couldn't figure out what ND was doing either, at least try to score?? Tressel coached a huge game, and for once he opened up the offense and used his weapons, then again he did let ND back into it like he always does. Still, in a big game he's the guy I want on my sideline...even over the portley Weiss. What a game by Troy Smith, if he doesn't get suspended, that Texas game would have went our way. Great game, a lot of fun.
kidd
Re: OSU v. muggs
Re: OSU v. Notre Dame You're lucky the Buckeye made those mistakes, otherwise it would have really gotten ugly for your Irish.
Ohiobucks
Re: OSU v. Notre Dame [ QUOTE ] then again he did let ND back into it like he always does. [/ QUOTE ] So it was Tressels design to have those 2 FG's blocked and to also turn the ball over within the ND 20? Come on Eric.....that is at the very least nine points that went away.... Give some credit man!
Tominator
Re: OSU v. Notre Dame [ QUOTE ] then again he did let ND back into it like he always does. [/ QUOTE ] How did HE let them back in? muggs
Re: OSU v. Notre Dame It's funny how anyone from Central Ohio is automatically a Tressel apologist. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a great coach and I love the guys personality, and there's no one I'd rather have coaching my team in a big game. But...once he gets a lead, he slowly takes his foot off the accelerator. I may be mistaken, but HE is the one calling the plays right? He stopped throwing down field, and of course just like my magic 8 ball said, it was nothing but QB draw, Pittman, Pittman. I would have like to see him call some deep routes the whole time. ND couldn't handle or passing game, but they were shutting down our run all day. That explains the FG attempts and punts.
Ohiobucks
Re: OSU v. Notre Dame Tressel apologist? What's to apologize for? One of the best games ever played between two powerhouse football teams? Is anything ever going to be good enough for you Eric? You're wrong, WE won (WE meaning the Buckeyes and true Buckeye fans, not you), end of story....

Even with the blocks and the fumbles it should have been a bigger margin of points. A big half-time lead is nice, but it's also no need to play it safe and try to run out the clock when the 3nd quarter just started, just ask Texas and their fans how nicely that worked out for them. He's a good coach, but to conservative and it hurts the Bucks, I true fan would realize that bud.

[/ QUOTE ] How did HE let them back in? I never saw him suit up and leave the sideline. [/ QUOTE ] so you're saying the coach has no bearing on the game? so why is he there? [/ QUOTE ] I'm saying he wasn't on the field. ND got back into the game by making some adjustments on their offensive side. Weiss/Quinn did a good job of picking apart State's defense with the short slants that set up the play action runs up the middle, but then State made some great adjustments to shut that down too. [ QUOTE ] I just know my football, that's all. [/ QUOTE ] That's the best laugh I've had in a long time. I've got a bottle of Tinks that proves otherwise.
