sureshot
Re: How Long Do You Wait????????? I hunt farm land mostly or open pasture, most of my coyotes are seen within 10 minutes,if I do not see one within 15 I usually head ot a new spot, but rememebr I can see over 1/2 mile usually in all directions, if in brushy area and good conditions I will spend up to 1/2 hour, but most of my coyotes are shot within 10 minutes!! Good luck!!
maddhunter
Re: How Long Do You Wait????????? Good info Sureshot!!!!! But I meant how long(days) do you wait until hunting a spot that you killed a coyote in? Do you hunt it again the following day after or will you leave the area alone for a couple days or even a week. Every area that I can hunt has as many as 3 coyote packs and a few bobcats. The terain is fairly open on the land I killed my first. It is a bean field that wasn't planted last year. We mowed part of it so we could see the deer crossing but the grass is still about 8-10 inches high, making it a little more difficult to spot yotes and cats. It's surrounded by woods and a creek that runs down one side.
jcwa
Re: How Long Do You Wait????????? I would give it at least a week at the minimum. But 2 week would be better to let things settle. When you go in to the area to call, use a different call other than the one you used the last time you were in the area.
sureshot
Re: How Long Do You Wait????????? I agree 100% with jcwa I always use different calls but there are certain areas I will call nearly every time by, they are lake bottoms, huge draws ect, they seem like travel corridors,I have killed coyotes in one spot 3 days in a row ,its a rockpile on the edge of a long lake with brush on the edge, the ice is easy walkign for coyotes when snow gets deep!! I do agree most spots should be left settle down but if you have only certain areas to hunt try a different call and a bit different area[even 50 yards away] better to get busted than not huntign at all lol!! Good luck!!!!!
captkb44
Re: How Long Do You Wait????????? On average we try to let a place rest a week or two. Like SS, we have a few spots we hit more often, because for some reason or another they produce coyotes almost everytime out. If you find a good spot and take a couple coyotes off of it and you feel 3-4 days is enough - you never know until you try.
