AJ:

The load I worked up for this year for my .50 Encore was a 250 grain T/C Shockwave and 130 grains of Pyrodex. The 295 Powerbelts grouped almost as well, but I used them last year.

I have taken my buck this year on 11/9 in Highland Co. VA (8 point with a large body in full rut). I was a little disappointed, probably in me. I hit the buck well, but high and a little forward. The round went through him and lodged just under the hide on the far side. The shot distance was 80 yards. He went down where he stood. He never took a step, but kept trying to raise his head up for several minutes. I felt obligated and did put a second round in him. I will hunt some more with my set up this year, however, I am already thinking of what to try next year.

I believe you shoot the Precision Rifle bullets. I have heard good things about them. I looked at their website. They had such a wide selection of bullets, I am in the lost category.

I would like to stick in the 250 grain weight category, although I usually let the grouping decide that for me. The .50 selections have bullets in the .40, .44, and .45 diameters, with all kinds of weight selections.

They also have the Dead Center and the QT. Which for which and why?

Are they easy to load? The Powerbelts were a dream and the Shockwaves were difficult.

1) What PR bullets do you use

2) What PR bullet or bullets do you recommend for my setup. I hunt VA whitetails with shots between 20 to 150 yards. I use a Leupold fixed 4 scope.
