Attn: Michigan Deer hunters

I was wondering the amount of deer on avg. you saw during your hunts. I saw, to me, a ton of deer before rifle season which was avg about 3. I am thinking I am on a good spot but it might be wise to look for an even better spot this summer.

Please state whether you were in the Lower LP, northern LP, or UP and which option you chose. Also whether you were on state land or private!

Thanks!

Re: Attn: Michigan Deer hunters

I was seeing 5-6 per hunt, mostly does I only got skunked seeing nothing 2 or 3 times, I didn't bowhunt a whole lot this year, mostly went out with the muzzleloader.

I think I'm going out for one last hunt tomorrow night, then I'll start looking for shed antlers.

I think the numbers are down as it seems they give out doe permits like candy! Herd is no where near where it was 10 years ago, let alone 5! I say the buck to doe ratio is easily 12 to 1!

I agree. I hunt prime farm land in Shaiwassee County with tons of corn. And eveything is hit and miss. I hunted hard bow season til the very end of muzzle loading. I would see deer only about 35% of the times I went hunting and only about 10% of the time I had shooting opportunities. One weird thing is that I either see absolutely nothing or I see 5-10 at a time with 14 being the most I seen in a single setting. All season long I only seen 4 different bucks which leads me to believe the 12:1 ratio.
