stevebeilgard
Re: THE GREAT COLORADO ELK HUNT- TEXAS LAKES,CO i'll have an air matress too. let those with a sore back laugh... i'll also have 4 cots with matresses for others. since i can't blow up an air mattress at 9,000', i have a battery powered inflater. each tent has a wood stove. so, we can sit around after dinner, have a beer, and be in our t shirts. comfy. got a few other creature comfort surprises, too. silvertip_co
Re: THE GREAT COLORADO ELK HUNT- TEXAS LAKES,CO We formulted a plan. I will take my camper & ATC to Texas Lakes and set up on the weeknd of the 14-15 October. Then the 19th I'll pick up my dau at DIA and get grocs and head right to the camper. The 20th she and I can spend meeting who's there from our group and scouting for elk. That night I'll slip over Cottonwood Pass and pick up wife so she can hunt 4 days with us all. Only 11 more weeks...

texastrophies
Re: THE GREAT COLORADO ELK HUNT No it is not. Everybody is welcome to come and to hunt you just buy your lic. over the counter (I believe you have to do that before the season starts) or I also believe you can do it on line. stevebeilgard
Re: THE GREAT COLORADO ELK HUNT check with the colorado game & fish web site. a 4x4 is legal except in the wilderness area. it's all public land. the license is all you need for the elk, no other tags necessary. you can buy a cow license cheaper than a bull license, but you can only shoot what your tag says. anyone who gets an elk down will have lots of elk getting it out. lots of sweat, but no worry. "will work for food" is the motto....

Guest Phaseolus (BeanMan)
Re: THE GREAT COLORADO ELK HUNT Any Bull with at least a five inch brow tine is legal, it could a be a 3 point with a 5" brow tine. but, You had better be sure the tine is long enough if you are shooting at one with less than 4 points on one side. buckee
Re: THE GREAT COLORADO ELK HUNT [ QUOTE ] from texastrophies I have a few questions. First, is this thing still on, haven't heard or seen many comments on it lately, less than 2 months now? If the answer to the first question is yes, please continue. I have a 4x4, are tire chains necessary? required? 2 tires or 4 tires? I have a 4 wheeler, should I bring it? Will anybody have room for me to throw my cot & sleeping bag in there tent? In one thread there was a mention about contributing to the meal cause, any more info on that? That's all. (for now) [/ QUOTE ] Yes the hunt is on Jeff. The other questions can best be answered by others.

stevebeilgard
Re: THE GREAT COLORADO ELK HUNT we'll have tent space. chains will be needed if the snow gets heavy, but normally it isn't. who can predict? you can bring your own food, or chip in for food. whatever you want. Guest Phaseolus (BeanMan)
Re: THE GREAT COLORADO ELK HUNT For what it's worth the weather we are having in Colorado right now doesn't really mean much for one month from now. Most likely it will melt off, we'll have a little more and it will melt etc. Warm and dry could be just as likely as wet and cold. Having mositure now will make the woods more quiet for sure and that is a good thing. Beanman
