VTbowman
Re: I can\'t decide... I assume your wanting it to hunt with right? Dumb question. LOL I suggest 7mm.08 if its your first. At least thats what everyone is telling me. I am getting an Encore 15" 7mm.08 which is suppose to be "managable recoil" and still reach WAY out there. (200+ yards) I was told a .308 or .270, without a brake, can be brutal. I am geting a brake on mine but its only because its a custom barrel I am buying used off someone. 6.5 is another one to look at. But thats sorta like a .270. .243 seems a bit light to me but I know several use it on deer. Go to these forums if your serious about it. I think you need to sign up for them but these guys know their stuff. http://specialtypistols.infopop.cc/groupee/forums http://www.handgunhunt.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?Cat=&C=

hangunnr
Re: I can\'t decide... The aforementioned 7-08 is a fine choice. You may also want to consider the .308 or .260 Rem. Any of these are good 200yd guns and pack plenty of power to anchor a hog. There are a myriad of calibers out there suitable to do what you want. If you are a handloader the available chamberings is basically limitless. hangunnr
