WIwhitetailhunter
The Packers fired head coach Mike Sherman monday morning. http://www.jsonline.com/packer/news/jan06/382192.asp This could be the deciding factor on whether or not Favre retires or not. buckbuster11
Re: GB fires Sherman I really didnt see that one coming, I bet it has alot to do with trying to get Favre to retire so they can move on and rebuild.

[/ QUOTE ] It will. I was reading about a couple months ago and Favre said he won't come back if Sherman isn't around. I'm not like Ted Thompson at all. Chrud
Re: GB fires Sherman If they would have had the same results as they did this year, yes. GB is WAY better than 4-12. A bunch of those games were lost by a TD or less. Having a running game, plus your starting TE and WR would have probably been an extra score or two a game. I don't think Sherman should have been fired. Before this year, he led the team to 3 straight division championships. But, not everyone looks at this past season the way I do. buckbuster11
Re: GB fires Sherman See I have a feeling that he might still have a job if Favre wasnt there. In other words...nobody in that organization is going to say "Hey Brett we want you to retire or go somewhere else so we can go on"....and by firing Sherman they know Favre will probably go. So they got rid of Favre indirectly. Now I'm not saying that is the only reason they fired Sherman, but I think it might have been a deciding factor in getting rid of him. Thats my conspiracy theory. WIwhitetailhunter
Re: GB fires Sherman It's too bad they fired him. After all, he had nothing to do with the fact the team had as many injuries and players out. I also heard the press conference where Brett said it would be hard to come back next year if they had a new coach. He said it would be difficult to "learn" a new system and coaching style. I expect him to announce that he's done in a week or two. Favre wasn't at the team meeting today when the news of Sherman's fate was announced to the team. After the game he headed straight to Mississippi. Granted, if he does come back next year, it won't be a SuperBowl year. I think he is well aware of that fact. Whatever he decides, die hard Packer fans will still hold the #4 in their hearts!
VtBowhunter
Re: GB fires Sherman If this is the case then I have the ultimate revenge for Favre and Sherman. Sherman become the coach of the Lions, and Favre goes with him......they have some great receivers there with the right coach and QB. c_lou
Re: GB fires Sherman While I wasn't totally shocked the fired him, I am surprised they did it so soon. If the team is trying to force Favre out then I'll bet a shiny nickel they don't even try to get Mariucci. I think if Mariucci comes in and keeps the offense the samr or similar, Favre has a hard time not coming back.
Guest Finn
Re: GB fires Sherman I was surprised by the firing. Not sure who the right guy is...Mooch would be entertaining and probably the best chance to see Favre stay.
