Drilling and Tapping an H&R 10ga.....

Alright, I screwed up and bought the "cheap" fixed full choke "goose" barrell for my Ultra Slug. Figured it would work just fine for turkey hunting......

Anyway, I've tried all the different loads I could find locally, and have yet to get one to hit to point of aim. Lots and lots of pellets, just not where I'm aiming.....

I know I could just compensate, by aiming high and left, but that just bugs me......

According to the H&R website, You Cannot Drill and Tap a shotgun barrel.....

Why is that?

Seems that if the barrel is thick enough this shouldn't be a problem.....

Any input? I'd like to mount a shotgun scope, or a red dot for turkey hunting.

They say the barrel is too thin at the chamber area to drill and tap. That's where all the pressure is. Check with your local gunsmith. he can probably silver solder a set of adjustable sights on the barrel. I am not sure how much this would cost.

You may be able to have a Weaver base silver soldered to the barrel. Contact your gunsmith and ask him. I would put a good red dot on it. It will have to withstand some thump. It will probably cost as much as your barrel did.

Why not call H&R and ask them if there is a problem with the barrel? Tell them it shoots X many inches low and X many inches right and see if they will offer to fix the problem or get you a new barrel. The worst you would be out is shipping.
