Just made this last week, thought I'd share.

1 cup barley, 2 cups of water.

boil the water, dump in the barley. Simmer it until the water's gone. Be careful not to scorch the barley. Takes about 10 minutes.

6 to 10 cups of water, 1 quart of beef broth, 3 or 4 boullion cubes, 2 or 3 cups of carrots and celery, 1 can, around 1lb of stewed tomatoes, 2 bay leaves, salt and pepper to taste, 1 lb of ground venny/beef, dump in the cooked barley, set the whole mixture on medium heat, walk away for a few hours stirring every now and then.

Awesome soup, yummy. Gets better the older it gets. grin.gif
