muggs
I know Reggie Bush is def. the most talented player in the draft and should go #1, but the Texans have a ton of holes to fill and Dominic Davis may not be the best RB in the game, but he has rushed for 1,000 his first two seasons. So, do you think it's best for the Texans to use the pick for Bush? IMO, I don't think I'd pass Bush up, he'll sell tickets and has a great chance at being a game breaker. But trading the pick and then drafting an O lineman would probably do the most for the Texans to get better as a team. thoughts....
c_lou
Re: Should Texans Pick Bush? I bet they try to trade out of the spot. IMO, Davis is a franchise back, plus Wells showed he is a decent backup. I just don't know if you can pass on a talent like Bush. I mean what do you say to your fans in 3 years, Yeah we could have had the next L.T. (the running back) but we felt Joe OffensiveGuard was what we needed. muggs
Re: Should Texans Pick Bush? yeah, I don't think the fans would appreciate them passing on Bush, but imagine what Carr and Davis could be with an O line.
c_lou
Re: Should Texans Pick Bush? That's the Catch-22. Do you draft an O-line and show what Davis could do with some blocking. Or do you draft Bush and see if he can do what Davis did this year (granted not a great year in NFL terms but he was the best player on that team and just about the only one who scored). I still say draft Bush then use the next 3 picks on O-line. The have 4 of the first 70 picks.
MCH
Re: Should Texans Pick Bush? Draft Bush. Davis is an excellent back but Bush's potential is just too much to pass up.
deerslayer06
Re: Should Texans Pick Bush? what kind of question is this? ITS REGGIE BUSH! The most explosive player in college football! Of course the texans will draft him.
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Re: Should Texans Pick Bush? i would draft him if i were them...then see what kind of trades other teams are willing to make for him of for davis....either way i see it as a win win situation for them...they could get alot for a guy of that caliber
buckbuster11
Re: Should Texans Pick Bush? Good question. I bet some team out there might be willing to give an arm and a leg to get Bush. If thats the case then it would make more sense to trade out of that spot. It wont make alot of sense to have a good QB, probowl receiver, and three really good backs behind a line that couldnt block me or you. If it were me I would entertain all trade offers, muggs you know my thoughts on Bush anyway. He'll put tons of butts in the seats but if a team makes an offer you cant refuse...then well.....you cant refuse. All depends on what other teams are offering though. VtBowhunter
Re: Should Texans Pick Bush? Mick, I was being smart, lol. The steelers will need another stud back, but they'll get one elsewhere.....they need to worry about drafting O-line, A Stud Receiver to replace Burress, and then maybe a linebacker and depth at DB. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah like Willie Parker. By the way I have re-evaluated the original post and decided that Houston should take Vince Young #1 if he comes out. If he doesnt, take Bush...and then throw the entire 2006 season so they can pick #1 again...and then take Young.
muggs
Re: Should Texans Pick Bush? Man, everbody is on the Young bandwagon huh? I think Young would be a good fit for the Texans...if they didn't have Dave Carr, I still think he can be a good QB. If I was the Texans, I'd trade the #1 for a top ten pick, and more picks and/or players, then draft the best OT there, hopefully that will be Brick Ferguson, and then get some defensive and o-line help with my other picks. LaCharles Bentley is a FA center that I'd seriously go after if I was the Texans. Everbody wants the glamour picks, but Reggie Bush will not be able to run with their o-line anyways, he's not strong enough to break those tackles. [ QUOTE ] Everbody wants the glamour picks, but Reggie Bush will not be able to run with their o-line anyways, he's not strong enough to break those tackles. [/ QUOTE ] I agree....again. I see you are backing off of the Reggie Bush bandwagon a little bit as well. Young makes sense for Houston because..um...where is he from? where did he play college ball at? If you think Bush would put butts in the seats...Young is 10 times more popular in Texas right now then anyone on the Houston Texans ever will be. And I'm not sure why everyone thinks Carr will be the next John Elway if he ever gets an o-line. In my mind he still isnt a proven good QB yet. Its a tough call, but apparently the Texans FO doesnt agree with my point of view. Rumor has it they are praying Young stays in college because they know it will be a huge PR disaster if he comes out and they dont take him...which they dont want to do. They want Bush. Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Re: Should Texans Pick Bush? i dunno if i heard wrong but i thought i heard on outside the lines on ESPN that the texans were talking to carr about a long term deal...is so i think bush is there guy...i would like to see detroit make some trades with houston or one of the other theams that have a top 3 or 4 pick in the draft so they can get a QB...but then again millen isn't smart enough to do anything that will help the team
muggs
Re: Should Texans Pick Bush? I still think Bush will be a great player, I was hyping him up long before ESPN did what they always do, and now all of a sudden he's the consensus #1, or he was until Young went off. Still, Carr is OK for the time being, if they want to get better, I think the QB and RB positions are not were they should start. But how do you pass on Young or Bush?? I'd hate to be in their shoes. Talk about a tough choice.
VtBowhunter
Re: Should Texans Pick Bush? Here's how I see it. -Texans trade down. -Bush to the packers -Leinart to the Saints -Young to the Titans -............Lendale White slides to the Steelers at the end of round one. colts1888
Re: Should Texans Pick Bush? Draft Bush and keep Davis if its possible. Houston is going to need Davis or somebody else to help carry the load becuase Reggie Bush is NOT ready to carry the ball 25-30 times a game in the NFL. Bush may be more valuable in other areas, such as returning kicks and being used as a receiver. He reminds me of Randel El from Pittsburgh, only Bush is a RB too and a very good one. texastrophies
Re: Should Texans Pick Bush? because Carr is no good!!!!!!! Let me proceed this by saying I am not a Texans Fan, but due to locale, I am forced to watch them if I want to watch football. Actually I don't think the Texans need to get Bush. They have decent backs already, not great but decent. And as for selling tickets, I believe they sold out every home game this season, with only 2 wins. So they don't really need him as an attraction. I really do believe they need a quarterback. Granted, a lot of his problems were because of the offensive line, or lack there of, but he just does not impress me as a starting QB. I think they need to take the other USC star , Matt Wheinart, as their pick. Or what would be a better choice, would be to trade down and pick up a couple of first round lineman and then get an experienced QB from another team.
